Run
Comments: My initial plan for this race was to go out there and have a training day faster than usual. I was hoping to get a good 20km done. The course was not particularly flat, 575 feet of climbing or so. Nothing too hard since it was mostly running on a false flat but still 2.5km of false flat gets old ;) When I arrived I talked with Alex a bit and his plan was to run it at 4:30 or so. So I decided to start with him and try to hold the pace. It worked pretty good for the first 5k, but after that my legs started to slow down without asking me already. At that point I knew I was in trouble ;) After the first 5km I let Alex go and tried to concentrated on my race, trying to stay within a 4:40 pace or so, which worked not too bad for the second 5km. But when the third loop started going up that damn false flat again was starting to be tough. I tried to dig deep and push but the legs were really tired at that point. Pushing harder was not an option anymore, it was more of a try not to screw up the pace too much mood at that point. I got a couple of split over 5/km at that point which pissed me off. I gave everything I had on the way back, finishing with some nice split. Finally crossed the line 2 minutes over what I was aiming for. I was not happy with that result, but I had not much left in the legs after the race so I know I gave most of what I had in me. Maybe I could have push a bit harder but I am not too sure. What would you do differently?: Since I went into this race as a training nothing, but if I wanted to race it then I would have not bike and run that much in the days leading to the race. riding 85km on Friday and 45 on Saturday sure didn't give the legs a break ;) But the plan was to run on tired legs to get used to it for the next HIM which my A race of the season. Warm down: I ran back to my sister in law's slowly, cheering on people still on the course on my way there. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tired legs Event comments: This was the first year of this event, nice little run. Last updated: 2010-08-01 12:00 AM

The race was close to my place and the start was at 10. I got up as usual, had breakfast and some coffee then my wife dropped me on the site and drove to my sister in law's place since the course was passing right in front of her place.
I had a smoothie for breakfast and a couple of coffee.
Went for a 1.5km run or so with Alex and Claude
