I love bumper-sticker type quotes but I hear a lot of people use them but don't live them.  For example, I've heard/read people talk about living their lives so they have no regrets....but they live very conservative lives, never take grand vacations, never sign up for a marathon or some other race that is out of their comfort zone.  So my thinking is, live your life in such a way that no one has to ask or wonder about your bumper-sticker or manatra....they can see it in how you live.

ETA - if you want to find some good quotes, do a little surfing on people's logs.  Many people have their favorite quote on the dashboard of their log.

This is my favorite all time quote (Theodore Roosevelt, 1910), known as "The Man in The Arena":

I like all these quotes...they are all great, but this one cracked me up.

I can just see a coach right before a swim, " You're going to do great, you are ready for this, get every bit energy you have out, push till the end, you know you can do it..................oh, and don't die.....ok, off you go, cheers!"

I love the "Suck it up, Tinkle-Fairy" that my friends keep telling me when I start whinging about stuff.

That's an image from a local gym who's website I go to get inspired sometimes. By far my favorite thing to say to myself, especially while running. I find that when I decide to walk during a run, that quote helps me keep going.

Someone here has a tagline w/ a Lance A quote saying something like "Pain is temporary, quitting is forever". I like this quite a bit. Had it go through my head this AM about 4:45 as I slogged through a run I did NOT want to do (but did it anyway.)
