Subject: Signing up for my first Ironman
Alright, someone may know this information. I have heard that for some Ironman's, the only possible way to gain entry is to either (a) Be at the race site on race day 1 year prior, or (b) Take a foundation spot for nearly double the price.
Now, there must be some Ironman's that open up to the public for at least a couple of days online - so I don't have to pay the $ for the foundation spot, and I don't have to be there on race day 1 year prior.

If this is the case, can someone let me know in their experience if it is possible (95% probable) to sign up online the day after the race in the prior year for: IM Lake Placid, IM Canada, IM Wisconsin

Thanks in advance.

IMWI from what I have heard/seen goes online each year. I signed up onsite, but I also live in Madison. As long as your at a computer when it goes online I think you will be safe. Cant vouch for Canada or LP, but I can also tell youll have a blast at IMWI and I havent done that yet for another 9 days.

hmmm... in 9 days I have my second 1/2 IM (Muskoka 70.3). If things go well in Muskoka, its gonna be really hard to resist signing up for Wisconsin 2011.
Its about a 10hr drive from where I am (near Toronto, On)
