Yep!  I'm making the trip up from Northern Virginia to run in my 'Homeland' (I'm originally from near Corning).

Very pumped!

Yeah - I just saw that this morning.  While I'm certainly glad its going to be cool, I can't really decide how much or what to wear.  The low that morning is supposed to be 36!

I'm thinking a long sleeve running shirt over a base layer would definitely be in order.  But running pants vs. shorts?  I've not run in temps this cool since early march and my memory is fuzzy about what I would wear at what temp.

What are you guys going to wear?

I'm going with shorts all the way...the longer you run the more annoyed you will be with those pants! Around mile 15 you'll want to rip them off. It should warm up fairly quickly, most of the time out there we will be well above 45....so might be a little chilled at the start but you will warm up quickly.

Do you have anyone cheering you on? You could always arrange to have them out on the course and throw them the long sleeve shirt/pants etc. when you don't want them anymore.

They will have bags for your warm up clothes so you can be comfy just before the start then strip down, then they will take the bags to the finish for you.

How is your taper going?

Actually, yes - I've got folks cheering me on and I hope to rope my Dad into being my 'support crew'.

I think you are right about the shorts thing.  I've never gone longer than 6 or so miles with the pants - probably not a good idea to do that in a marathon.  There is no way I'll be able to get them off mid-race, so I will probably just have sweats on before the race and then peel them off.

I will probably wear a long sleeve running shirt and potentially ear warmers and gloves, which I'll give to my 'support crew' at mile 14 (Campbell American Legion, the Helicopter...), where I plan to meet him to get re-supplied with my favorite drinks.

The 'taper' is going fine.  I find that if I taper too much my energy level goes down too far, so I've done a bit of running today and yesterday (my logs are open), but I will take tomorrow and Friday off.  A short 2 miler on Saturday is all I will do after that.

How about for all of you?  Are you ready to rock it!?

Going well....and ready to rock! I'm being a bit more conservative in my taper, I checked out your logs and you are certainly active, but I know it works for you so that's good. I really wanted to run long last weekend just because I'm used to it but a friend advised against it and I'm glad I took her advice....I should be fresh as a daisy coming into this. My first one!

With the kind of times you are posting in training I'm sure you are going to kick some tail!
