Isn't that always the woman's dilema? OK...race on Sunday. It is sooo damn hot I am re-thinking my ensamble I was going to wear a sports bra and then my swim suit over that then when I bike I'll just throw on my bike shorts and when I run I'll throw on my running shorts? Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Jenn

Buy a swim suit that has a pad.. that way you don't have to throw more layers? I'm a guy what do I know... just seems to make sense?

I just wear a tri suit but before I got that I just wore the swim suit and put on shorts & sometimes a shirt for the rest. My swim suit is way tight (a size too small) and I dont have huge boobs so I can get away with no sports bra. I wouldn't change that much if I were you, too much time.

I'm also working on the same dillema -- so far I have gotten as far as tri-shorts. I think I should probably find something else to wear, but I'm not sure yet what. Sports bra for the swim, and then a bike jersey for the bike and run, maybe?

Keep it simple. The less changing, the better.

I think I'm going to wear tri shorts, sports bra and wetsuit for the swim then put on a sleeveless dri-fit top for bike and run. This will be my first tri so I'll have to see how that works for me. I considered wearing my swim suit (with bike shorts and then running shorts) which is fine for running but I think it would bother me on the bike. I have yet to try it at home.

Good luck!

Try it at home! I always put on a bike shirt for sun protection and gels in the pockets, but end up taking it off in the run due to profuse sweating. I noticed many shirtless people on the bike at my last race, though.

My first tri is 26 days away and I am still trying to determine what I will wear too. I was thinking about something similiar to you - minus the sports bra (unfortunately, I do not require any extra support in that area). I was planning on throwing on the bike shorts in T1 and switching to running shorts in T2 but now I am rethinking the plan due to the responses in this thread. Should I buy a pair of tri shorts to wear over my bathing suit? Can I bike and run comfortably in tri shorts? And what about a shirt? I'm not comfortable running around in a bathing suit and tri shorts yet. I need a little extra covering at this point. Is it ok to throw on a light shirt at T1?

Tri suit or tri top and shorts for sprints. The cycling shorts issue depends on how hard your tushie is , how comfortable your bike seat is and how far you are biking....I have done two 1/2 irons, a full ironman and 2 olympics with swimming in cycling shorts and wearing them throughout the rest of the race. No problems at all. I recommend a cycling jersey that breathes and wicks well for the bike and run. I prefer to be covered up from the sun than exposed to it. I swim in sports bra and cycling shorts under my wet suit and then throw on jersey after swim.

The less changing you have to do, the better, but remember chamois butter in your transition bag! You can even put it on before the swim and you'll be ok. DON'T FORGET SUNSCREEN!
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Running in cycling shorts should not be an issue. Try it.
