Subject: how to prevent chaffed nipples during a HIM
Is there anything that I can put on my chest to prevet the chaffing. Something that I can put on before the race and not have to worry about it falling off or wearing off before the end of the race. Or is there somthing that I can reapply

Wear a tighter shirt?

I've never tried any of the lube or band-aid solutions.

Either will work - I've used a little piece of cloth athletic tape for marathons.  It's a lot cheaper than body glide

Bodyglide works great.  I use it for any run over 12 or so miles.  I'd suspect that you may need to apply before the swim and reapply at T2... not sure if you'd need it for the bike I don't see that as much of a nipple-burner, but you could if so.

Are you wearing a tri top?  If not I would invest in one.  Otherwise you can go the medical tape or water proof bandaid route.  Body Glide isn't quite enough for me.

Body Glide is the best solution I have found.  I've tried tape, nip guards, athletic tape, band aids.
I use Body Glide now and it works really well, I have not had any issues since switching to it.

... and Bodyglide works well for non tape-able areas.  Sometimes if its hot I get bad chaffing under my arms where my singlet sort of sits in my armpit.  This mostly salt/sweat related since it doesn't happen in cooler weather.  Anyway I can use the Bodyglide like deodorant and problem solved.

Little round bandaids work like a charm.  Never had them come off while swim and they are small enough to avoid most hair.

Although I only have two nipples, I buy them in boxes of 100 for $2-3.

Yeah I had to tone it down after the initial attempt with duct tape.

One big problem with body glide is it stains after repeated use.  I have a few shirts with big discolored spots in that area, looks kind of strange.

The most effective/reliable method I've found is 3 coats of liquid bandage applied the night before the race. Get the bottle with the application brush built into the cap.

Nothing to mess with on race day, protects as well or better than other alternatives, won't wash off in the water, never had it fail during a run (every other method I've seen listed (body glide, tape, band aids, etc) has failed on me at some point during training/racing.

Serious issue for women too.

At least this one.

Bodyglide has utterly failed me. I switched to SportShield roll-on a long time ago--doesn't stink, doesn't stain, doesn't wear off. After my HIM (and for me, it was a looooong one) I could still feel it EVERYWHERE (including my feet, which had been barefoot on all kinds of surfaces, Pacific Ocean, bled all over, peed on ... umm ... etc.)

Compression shirt or tri top compression. Never had an issue with this.

Well, the most obvious way is not not wear a shirt or to wear a compression shirt.  Another alternative would be band aids (carry several spares with you and probably wouldn't be a bad idea to smear some antiperspirant over the area you're gonna apply band aids to.  Some people suggest body glide.  I think that's fine for getting a wet suit on, I don't think it works well for preventing nipple chaffing.

What ever you do, do not wear a cotton shirt.

I've had issues in training but never in racing. Probably because I race in a tri top which is tight.

I know there is a specific product called "Nip Guards" but IMHO they are essentially overpriced band-aids. For a number of years I have simply used inexpensive drug store house brand round bandaids that are about the size of a dime and they work perfectly - they've stayed on through swim, bike and run.
