Furthermore, I suggest everyone has a crazy training goal for each leg.

You mean one where they don't eclipse it by 200% or hit it by the middle of the month? I shouldn't have said that. I'm a coach, It bothres me to see people hesistate to aim for the top shelf.

You learn nothing by those sorts of goals. And you learn nothing by having a goal you KNOW you can do if you put the training time in. Step up and surprise yourselves! I know my goal will be something like to do 7.5K run under 30min during training, two days in a row (sub 4min/km) where my fastest run time so far is 4:30/km.

Sorry, I'm out for Team Thunderbird. Have WAY too much going on in August. I'll be back stronger than ever in September, though.

GO BIRDS!

I cannot commit for August. I could set lower goals but wouldn't feel right. August is just too busy for me. Sorry 5 Alive. You will have to do it without me this time.

My apologies as well to team FIVE ALIVE, but I'm going to watch this month's challenge from the sidelines. I have my second tri coming up with taper and rest, and some other life situations that could complicate training. Estimating good goals would be tough and if I'm too optimistic with my goals I'd push too hard to meet them anyway. I should still get a few inspires out to those of you still in though. Go FIVE ALIVE!

gsulee - 2005-08-01 1:43 PM Talk to me Goose! What is this team challenge thing all about?

Basically, we've got a number of teams. Everyone sets their swim, bike and run goals (in distance or time), and a core goal (optional). You cheer on the members of your team to complete their goals. At the end of the month, the team with the highest average completion, wins.

There's still a couple other things to get worked out, but that's it in a nutshell. I'll assign you to a team shortly, if you're still interested.

If there is no captain indicated, volunteers would be great. If your name isn't here, and you want to be involved, let me know. Also, if we don't get many more players, Thunderbird & Five Alive may need to be disbanded, so we've got lots of room for more players!
