My wife has a tendency to use the wrong platitudes/idioms at the wrong time, the platitudes drive me nuts in the first place, but then to use them at the wrong time makes me crazy!

Her latest is "preaching to the choir". She seems to think this means someone who knows nothing of the subject speaking to someone who doesn't care to hear their opinion.

I am getting ready to explain the normal accepted use of the term, but I have to pick my battles.

Now c'mon Tri'Aya and Gearhead, for buttloads boatloads of people 'God has a plan for everyone' is a belief, not a platitude. Apparently God's plan for you two tonight (2 of my favourite BT'ers)  was to have a big brain farht.
