If you qualify for Kona at Ironman Louisville, do you have to race Kona that year or can you race Kona the following year?
Also if you qualify at Ironman Arizona which is after Kona and you will be in a different age group the next year how does that work?

IMKY is a qualifier for that years Kona. IMAZ qualifies you for the next year and you race the AG you are the following year even if different from your qualifying AG.

Age group placing, it differs from race to race and age group to age group on how many slots are awarded and a certain number of roll down spots if those places ahead dont take them (those that have been/.more in the know here or the website should tell you how many/how far down they go).

Every IM race is given a specific number of slots to be distributed between pro's and AG. Then those AG slots are distributed on a pro rata basis, the larger the AG the more slots. In the largest AG's, such as M35-39 and M40-44, there can be as many as 8 slots. Top finishers in each AG get right of first refusal and then they may roll down.
