So seeing aquas thread about moving here made me realize how many of us are in the Puyallup area. I was just curious if anyone else is a member of the YMCA. My wife and I just joined last night because we found out that her work has a corporate account thing with them. I am thinking of swimming there a few mornings during the week (pool opens at 4:30) and am wondering if anyone has used that pool (it is the Mel Korum YMCA) and how crowded it is. The people we talked to last night were generally not here in the morning so couldn't give me a good answer.

Overall it seems like a good facility though.

I've been a member for a couple years and have swam there at 4:30 (tough for me to get going that early) and it's nice, only a few swimmers & they are focused. You will often have your own lane if you start at 4:30. I need to get back into the pool and may be there tomorrow morning.

The afternoon has a window from 3:00-3:45 that's good for laps. Before that and after they have kids but I have gotten in full hour and more swims. They keep one lane available for laps.

The facility in general gets packed around 5:00 and it can get hard to find a parking spot.

It is a very nice facility. There are a bunch of other fitness classes, I took my first spinning class yesterday AM  5:30, only abt 7 people there, planty of open bikes. With a 4:30 swim and a 5:30 spin you can have a brick for breakfast.

If you see a 6'-2", 230#, grey haired guy say hi, my name's Dave.

I usually get to the Y at 3:00 PM, do 45 min of laps- until the kids get there. Then hit the stationary, the elliptical, or the treadmill. I usually finish up at 5:00 and that is when the place starts to get very busy. I haven't tried the 4:30 AM

went tonight when my wife was trying the step class. only 1 lap lane open really and I was there for about 45 minutes doing laps (i can do flip turns now!) and it was mostly just me with 1 other person there for about 15 minutes. it was loud but actually pretty nice. Just not sure if that is normal. I probably wont make it in early tomorrow (up late watching election results - i'm a dork) but will try it some day soon i hope. i really like that it is adults only upstairs. makes things so much more relaxed.

if you see a somewhat chubby redhead at the pool at 4:30 one day, feel free to say hi - (my name is Justin btw)
