Great Job to all!

I wish I was better at identifying people because I'm sure I passed and was passed by fellow BT'ers over and over again during the day.  I was totally not expecting to finish when I did, I was thinking 12:40 to 13:20 and came in at 11:30:18 - I had a good ..........no, I had a GREAT DAY

I was passed by a Tim and a Susan somewhere late on the bike course and I thought I wonder if that is Tim and Susan Kelly?  Then somewhere in the first 2 miles of the run I came upon the same couple and asked " Are you Tim and Susan Kelly" and they said "Yes we are!" I told them they were the reason I chose the 20 week Full Ironman Beginner Training Plan based on HR, because of a post Tim wrote saying that they used it the year before and had no problems. So a big "THANKS" to the both of you

Thanks to all for sharing your wisdom and insight and most of all your humor which really lightened my load

Let's do it again................ maybe in a couple years.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out this week. It would have been lonely with out y'all.

Thanks Nicole for pushing me to the front on the swim, I did better than I ever thought I could, The swim was my biggest fear and I did the best on it..no fear no more.

Thanks Kathy and Dan and all the other bters for all the help and motivation. My goal was simply to finish and that I DID!!..

My knee decided at mile 60 on the bike to act up and by the run was pretty sore and swollen, and I got cramps so bad my stomach is still sore( still haven't figured this one out).

When I saw Kathy on the run and hollered at her, That gave me the last inspiration to finish..Thank you Kathy and Congrats for showing true Courage! I waited outside until you finished...

Thanks very much everyone!!!It was and Awesome experience.

David

Great job JT.  Looks like you beat me by 11 seconds.

I, too, want to thank everyone for all the advice and support.  I was not active posting on the board, but read every post.

This was a great journey and an awesome day on Saturday to end the journey.

Had a Blast!  Its was really nice to meet up with all my fellow BTers for the morning swim and lunch.

Managed to meet my extreme goal of under 13 hours.  I think if it were not for the volunteers I would have not been able to do  that.  They were great and kept me inspired the entire event.

I am looking for another Ironman for 2013.

I really wish I could have made this.  The only internet access I had was from the hotel and the PC they had kept logging me off when I tried to view the BT thread.  I could not keep in touch with the group.

Today....

I am feeling good Kathy_G blister feet but I am a ironman. I remembered your bike gear when u and I were going back and forth on the hilly section on the bike. Good seeing out there.

Thanks everyone for all of the support and tips through the course. As I was riding through the vortex of the wind tunnel at the beginning and end of the ride, I distinctly remembered Daniel G's comments and "leaned into" the winds to make it through safely.

And also thanks for everyone who gave me tips on from my pinched nerve. I made it to the end (with pain) but would probably have been more in more pain if it weren't for your tips.

And finally as a bonus, I got ENGAGED on the finishing chute! Here's a video that my friends took:

Thanks everybody for the congrats!

I actually had my friends who came down for the race hand the ring off to me at Mile 14. It gave me 12+ miles to think about what to say!

Really awesome to see so many good race reports.  It was a really fun race, and its taken a couple of days to soak it all in.  I am so depressed now that I am not signed up for another one soon.

Did anyone else notice there was no helicopter on the swim portion?  Last year when I volunteered I thought it was awesome that a helicopter was buzzing about.  I also forgot what song was playing when the gun went off.  Panama by VanHalen.  What a great intro.  I was too nervous about getting "sucked" out to sea by the mass of swimmers to hear that.

Having a helicopter zipping around looks most cool when watching...however when you are out there swimming and they swing around there is some heavy exhaust.

Yes, I am slow to get back to the thread and will reiterate what most of you fellow first-timers have already said. I left PCB Monday morning and stopped in New Orleans overnight (gotta have the Cafe Du Monde stop) but ...

I was expecting a 16:30 finish (I am NOT a runner) but somehow managed a 14:53... I am definitely one of those who will get the biggest return on my dollar :-) ...and enjoyed every second of the day - actually more than just the day... women's pro winner Jessica Jacobs is a friend of a fellow BTer and my riding partner - I was fortunate to have dinner twice with them during the PCB stay. AND I got to share in the celebration of my favorite BTer's birthday!

I was priviliged to see KathyG 3-4 times on the run. I saw Sue on the run. A lot of you folks recognized my jersey and slowed down long enough to holler at me, and get me out of the foggy daze I was likely in at the time, for which I thank you. I was the guy who asked the score at the LSU TV and when they told me 3-0 (Alabama) I said "great" and promptly missed out on the beer they were about to offer :-). I got whipped as I passed ever so slowly by the dominatrix.

This journey has been amazing, and you folks are a big part of that. I have met a bunch of great, inspiring people. I appreciate every message, every email and every conversation this past year. I will be supporting a number of BTers at IMAZ in a couple weeks and signing up for that one 2012 as part of the IronHeart Racing team (yes, once again, for me "racing" is a misnomer, but it sounds better than IronHeart "participating" team).

It was great to see a number of the spouses on the course supporting even us slow folk. Kathy's husband was on the course AND at the finish when I crossed, and my race-day hero, Bar92, was there to make sure I didn't totally screw this up -- thank you, Briana!

Thank you all!
