I need something to work towards, so I have decided to challenge myself to swim 100 miles....yes, miles, by April 30th, 2011, which is 24 weeks. Including this week, that means I have to average 7,333 yards per week to make it to the goal.

Anyone care to join me? I could use some training buddies!

Sounds great, but I don't think I can make the 100 miles by then.

All the BT love in the world cannot make me do that.
I spent 4 months of this season exclusively swimming while I rehabbed a gastrocs tear.  Now that I am finally out of the pool full time I am relishing every bike and run like a kid getting outside at recess.

I definitely need a swim challenge but there's no way I could get to 100 miles right now.  I'd be in if I could set a shorter distance as my goal though!

So I've figured out I can probably complete 60 miles swimming by April 30th.  I know that's not 100 but could I still be in the challenge?? I could use the motivation to get my butt back in the pool!!

I'd like to join!  Though I won't even really get started until the week of the 13th as I'm headed out on a business trip and will probably not have access to a pool.  Might sneak 1 swim in before I leave...we'll see.

Still going to shoot for the 100   *gulp*

Just finished my 2nd swim So I am now at 3,5%

Well I defiantly need this, my form just fell apart during the session.

At the end I was doing 4 more strokes pr. 25m then in the beginning  Way to much.

Well hopefully that will change once we get a bit further into this challenge

Well I just found out that I won't have access to a pool when I'm home for Christmas break and I woke up today not feeling well so I'm trying to take it easy with training so it's looking like I'm going to have to wait to get serious about his challenge until school starts back in January

I soooooo need to swim more. I really need to get that 3 swim in every week but last week I only got in a very short 2nd swim Will leave for holidays on friday and not be back until next year   And then I really need to get swimming if I want to get to a 100M.

I just had my Tuesday lunch swim and today I just went for distance in an attempt to get some more strength as I have really been running on empty for the last 1000m or so  on the last swim workouts I have done. It went a bit better today but still a long way to go.

As of today I am at 8,9% !

Have is everybody else doing ?

After traveling for work last week, I'm finally back home & hit the pool for the *cough, cough* first time this month.  2000 yds done, but it felt like a lot more

Lots of work to do, but right now the consistently of the challenge will be good for me!

Having a tough go at it. Somehow I hurt my lower back, and even lying down is uncomfortable. Headed to the Chiro this afternoon, hopefully that will put me back on track

Just saw this now..
can I join in.. I just started back swimming and while I most likely won't make it in 16 weeks, It would be nice to give it a go and get back in the pool...

can I count what little I've swam already??

Not much action on this thread lately, hope everyone's too busy swimming to post

Gary - don't see why you couldn't count what you've already done since the challenge started.

I'm glad to be through the holidays, didn't get much swimming in with holiday travel & activities.

As of today, I'm at 10,100 yards in the challenge, but this should pick up a lot now with IMTX training in full swing.

btw - if you swim yards, how many yards do you count for mile conversion?  1650? 1700? or exact?

Hi everybody

I am back from my Christmas vacation and really need to get going now.

I did go to the pool once during my vacation but I will not count it as I spend all the time on the slides

Now lets swim.....

First swim of the done

Luckily the pool is heated as the air was quite cold -9C/16F.

The swim itself was not very good but you have to start somewhere I guess.

Tomorrow I have agreed to join a local Tri clubs swim training, nothing wrong with that but it starts at 5:50 AM !!

Now why did I agree to that ?????????

I finally had a full week of swimming (3x) and did a total of 8500m

If I keep that up I should be able to make it but there still is a very long way to go.

How is everyone doing ?
