Veteran 160 GA | Subject: RE: Rev3 South Carolina : Official Thread The coupon code BTREV3 is good for $20 off. Another poster said "Trakkers2" is good for $10 off. Surprisingly, they BOTH work together for a total of $30 off race registration! That brings the USAT-member cost from $175 to $144.76.
This is my A race of the year and first Olympic so I'm pretty excited. Edited by TRI-ing soldier 2011-08-23 11:07 AM |

Veteran 380 | Subject: RE: Rev3 South Carolina : Official Thread Grrr- this is my A race as well, Wish I would have known about the discount codes months ago when i registered! Update for those still considering, following along, or that didnt get the email: Here is what you need to know. T1-Swim to Bike will be located at Darwin Wright Park, about a 10 minute drive away from the Anderson Civic Center Rev3 Expo/Finish Line area. We WILL provide free shuttles on race morning that will be able to pick you, and your supporters, up at the Anderson Civic Center Rev3 Expo/Finish Line Area and drop you off at the Swim start at Darwin Wright. You will need to check your bike into T1 on Saturday. After your swim you will be able to put your swim gear in a bag and leave it in your transition spot. These bags will be collected and returned to a designated area outside of T2 for you to pick up after your race. T1 will close at the end of the swim and will not reopen for the remainder of the day. T2- Bike to Run is located at The Anderson Civic Center. T2 will NOT be open on race morning! You will be provided a bag for your Bike to Run gear, which you will need to check in at T2 on Saturday. You will have your own spot in transition where you will be able to store your gear. Both transitions will be guarded by security Saturday night. You will be provided with numbered stickers to attach to your bags for identification purposes.

Veteran 380 | Subject: RE: Rev3 South Carolina : Official Thread I searched my inbox and couldn't find anymore, but I do remember one being a big marketing one (transport I think). Nothing major like the last one posted. I think there was also an email explaining that the olympic and half would be on the same day due to the football game, but that's way public knowledge now.

The Hampton Inn in Greenville would be my first choice. It overlooks the river and is right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. There are great restaurants right downstairs and within walking distance |

Since race day is approaching, and generally lake level in SC & NC decrease in the late summer/fall, I was wondering where we stand. Thanks. |

Veteran 327 | Subject: RE: Rev3 South Carolina : Official Thread I have a couple of Newbie questions for anyone in the know.
I am very interested in the Olympic distance and since I live in Anderson, it only seems logical to do this one. With that said, I am completely knew to the Tri scene. I am doing my first tri on the 24th which is the YMCA spring in Pickens. I am looking forward to the atmosphere and just checking everything out. My debate is whether or not doing the Rev3 is a good idea for such a newb. I am not really worried about the distance in any discipline but I really don't want to get in anyones way. I grew up a swimmer from a very young age and this is the discipline in which I most excel with the least amount of practice. I have done many open water swims (although none with a wetsuit at this point) and can keep a very steady pace and rythm without burning too much energy. I actually expect that I can finish towards the top end of the swim in whatever wave I would be in at the start and I base this on other Rev3 results and the swim times posted. This is actually what worries me the most. I would be a complete newb finishing the swim in front of much faster triathletes. My bike pace will probably work out to around 17-17.5 mph and my run is probably around an 8:30-9min mile pace at that point so I worry that I will end up being a moving speed bump in front of people that actually know what they are doing. This is the reason I am doing a small race next weekend in Pickens. Having said all of that, my question is pretty simple. Is the Rev3 a good idea for someone as new to the sport as I am or should I consider some other, smaller races in order to gain experience before attempting one like this? |

If you can finish the swim you will be fine at Rev 3. I will be at the Pickens race also and think it is a good idea to do it first. We are doing a pre-ride from the Pickens Y at 8 am Sat (tomorrow) if you have any interest. I am going to do a couple of extra loops and a run. FWIW I know plenty of people who do an olympic as their first and have never done a sprint |

We would love to have you out there. I would tell you that based on your estimated times, you would be far from the back of the pack! Come have fun.

Extreme Veteran 360 Jacksonville, FL | Subject: RE: Rev3 South Carolina : Official Thread I'm in, and very excited. I checked on the web yesterday and found that the lake temp is right at 78 degrees...but forecasted lows over the next week are in the high 40's and low 50's. Seems very likely that this will be a wetsuit legal swim. Very excited about that! |

3 | Subject: RE: Rev3 South Carolina : Official Thread This is my first Rev3 event. Can any describe what to expect at the bike aid stations? I've seen half distance events where you can fling your waterbottle at a big sheet that will catch it and let it drop to the ground while you can reach (after slowing down some) out and grab a bottle filled with water or gatorade. Will this race be similar? Will there be a water bottle discard system/routine? |

Seems very likely that this will be a wetsuit legal swim. Very excited about that! I am almost positive this race will end up being wetsuit legal. The temps in Anderson are going to get very low this weekend compared to where they should be this time of year. I was on the lake last weekend and the water temp on the surface was reading 81 on my depth finder. With the rain we have had, high temps this weekend in the low to mid 60's and lows overnight in the low 40's, the lake is going to cool off pretty quickly. I would imagine a water temp around 75-77 on race day unless something amazing happens. |

The water temp at Lake Logan, where I've been swimming up here in Asheville is in the low 60s! |
