drewb8 - 2005-08-02 9:55 AM Hmmm... Funny, I've actually had lots of car issues lately... I just gave up my white 2dr civic w/ 206,000 miles 2 weeks ago for a brand new Subaru WRX wagon. Its very fun. I had it for 10 days and someone changed lanes into me but its all better now.

I love the WRX.  I almost bought an STi version and then realized that the gas prices and having to put premium into it would pretty much bankrupt me.  Maybe for my next car though, because I think Subaru makes some pretty awesome stuff.

Also, what do you guys think of the new FJ Cruiser?  It's kind of a throwback to the old Land Cruisers of the 60's and 70's and they're already in production.  Here's a pic of an new one and a vintage one, I kind of like them.  It's going to be built on a modified 4runner platform, so it'll be tough.

I love sub compacts - the whole SUV thing just makes me cringe. I have always equated SUV's with bullys and I've never met an SUV owner who failed to validate that impression.

Wook, I usually like your posts, but this is the most narrow-minded rediculous thing I have heard in long time. It's generalizations like this that shows one's ignorance.

I have a 2005 Xterra w/ Saris Bones bike rack....I had to do that one b/c I am trying to get a new job and the company car is a Jeep Cherokee and the Bones is all I could find that would fit on both....I really want the job, but I don't want to have to sell my 3 month old Xterra. As for the bully part, imagine George Costanza driving an Xterra and you have a good mental picture of me behind the wheel....far from a bully!!

I can't imagine all of us being bullys. I want another SUV for the practicality with my gear. I don't want to put my bike on a roof rack of a car. Just preference. I don't get that comment at all. Maybe its just where you live.

2004 Toyota Matrix.  It is far more fuel efficient (cheaper on gas) than my old Chevy Lumina, it has more room in the back for my bike (I don't have to remove the wheels) and it handles much better.

A super-guzzling Suburban. But love the way it also has become a locker room for all the bike, swim, and tennis gear (and other assorted junk that the kids and I need for our athletic endeavors.)

1997 Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed Black. Back seats don't fold down so I have a trunk Mounted Bike Rack that I use. I gave up a sweet 25th aniversary 1990 Ford Mustand LX 5.0. Red with Red and Black Interior. $3000 + in Stereo equipment. Ran PERFECT. I'd still be driving it today if I wern't such an idiot and say, I have to have a new car.

Also used to drive a 1988 Monte Carlo SS Black with T-Tops.

The great thing about generalizations - everyone makes one once in a while. See there I go again.

If that is the most narrow minded ridiculous thing you have ever heard then I guess you have never listened to a politician or Fox news.

Apologies to all the SUV owners whom I have never met, but one day I would like to introduce you to the ones I have met and you could decide for yourself if I was being narrow minded or a good judge of character.

One question: Have you ever met a bully who thought of themselves as a bully?

JeepFleeb may be the only one who can appreciate my car, but I love it!  Mine is actually brown, but since I don't carry around pictures of my car, I stole this one off of ebay because it's the exact year, make and model - 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.  I wanted one of these for years and finally found one that was 100% rust free.  It's my baby!

I thought about jumping in to this conversation, but I was in the sun for so long filling up my Land Cruiser that I think I have heat stroke and probably wouldn't be up to a skirmish. I will say that I find bully types more often in sports cars, while a lot of soccer moms drive SUV's.

And if you dissagree, I'll kick your ass.

Hehehe. Guess I stuck my head in a hornets nest or is that a WASPs nest .

OK OK OK> I take it back SUV owners have the exact same personality traits as people who drive other types of cars. I'll bet there are entire marketing departments at the major automakers who will be relieved to find out they aren't targeting a particular demographic and income type now.

Just don't get me started on drivers who wear hats, seniors with licenses and NOS driven street racers.
