Brother lives in Anchorage, so I have been up there during the salmon runs a few times ... this is my favorite picture from those trips ... not a fish picture, but still cool ...

Nice haul of Rockfish (what we Marylanders call Striped Bass) on a beautiful boat (Regulator envy!!!).

We got out on Memorial day and managed to boat our first keeper mako... 31 miles out on my 22 foot dual console... 135 pounds of insane predatory design!

Had a chance to go out Monday morning for a little Bass fishing.   Day started out great once we got boat in the water.   Strange day though.   For first time in 25+ years of fishing, we had a random bass jump into the boat.   We were just slow fishing the bank and it decided to jump on in as I was getting my lure unhooked off of a log.   The gators were so thick in the Wildlife refuge you could have walked across their heads in one area.   Somebody has been feeding them as they are not timid in the least and will approach your boat.   Little unsettling.   Even more so that there were 3-4 folks out there in canoes.  Thats ballsy.

Nice, and I love trout, when is dinner?

Not a super avid fisherman, but my son and I - and sometimes my daughter - usually wet a line while at our cabin in northern MN.  Nothing better than to cast for largemouth on a perectly still lake as the sun is setting and the fish are biting.

ETI: wow, old thread.,   I guess the trout dinner has come and gone long ago...  Enjoy the fishing season this year everyone!

No dinner with this fish. It was wild. I am only allowed to keep a hatchery marked fish.(adipose fin clip) But it was nice to catch and then watch it swim back into the depths of the river!

Edit:I opened up an old thread that I missed.

I like to fish, but didn't really realize it until we were landlocked.  I guess people here in Colorado fish, but it's not really my thing.  Some friends and I would take an annual camping/fsihing trip out to the coast when I lived in Austin.  It was funny (to me) because these were a bunch of freshwater fishermen who didn't know much about salt.  Eventually, I taught them how to throw a cast net, eat and cook blue crabs, and which fish were "good ones".  They'd get excited when they caught a huge catfish, then they'd be bummed when I told them that they were inedible and trash fish.

Last week, my wife was doing the Princess ½ Marathon.  My cousin called me up to do a Bass trip in Kissimmee.  Neither of us had ever been Bass fishing so it was a go.  I ended up catching 4 bass, 3 decent ones and one pip-squeak.

Still working on my gut

Still working on my gut but the wind makes it look even worse.
