So I'm running a half marathon this weekend with a friend. This is my friend's ultimate goal this year. She was running 5km when we started training for this half about 15 weeks ago. Last Saturday we ran 22km and my friend didn't have to walk at all and her speed has improved greatly too. I am so proud of her.

Anyway I wanted to get her something to celebrate her accomplishment and I thought that I would make her a shirt. Well I'd buy the shirt, but I wanted to get something printed on it. On the back I was thinking of just something like, "2005 Delta Half Marthon Finisher" or something like that. I also thought that I would get something put on the front. It can be either funny or inspirational or whatever, but I haven't really come up with anything that I like yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jen

That's such a cute idea!  I know that there's a website that has some dry fit running shirts with fun sayings.  You might be able to get some ideas from them!  I think their shirts are usually are priced around $20 unless you find them cheaper at an expo. Anyways, the website is:

My one friend put a saying on her TNT in the last 1/2 marathon we ran that was pretty funny.  It read "I took up running so I could hear heavy breathing again".  She got a lot of compliments and it made a lot of people laugh!

Those shirts are great. Thanks for the fast help both of you.

I think I might go with, "13.1 miles and still smiling" as it does suit my friend well. The pic of the burrito might be good too, but we have no Chipolte here, so she might wonder what that's all about.

Maybe you could print something on it backwards like.. "Please move to your Right"

you know.. so when all of the runners are looking in their rearview mirrors..

I ran the Chicago marathon last year and you see a TON of people w/ shirts and themes and stuff, but the best shirt I saw had a simple quote:

"You can't, and you won't, and you don't stop"
-Beastie Boys

I saw the shirt at about mile 11 and they kept me going for the final 15.2 miles!!

If this is the shirt she'll wear in the race, put her first name in large letters on the front. Imagine having everyone along the course yelling, "Go, Jen!" as you fly by.

What a sweet thing to do for your friend! Sorry I don't have any saying to suggest, I ran behind a guy that had a great saying and it helped me in a race but now I don't remember what it was! But I do have another web site for you to check out, www.runningbanana.com.

Good luck to your friend.
