The BT gods moved the DeSwimber thread to the more appropriate location "Challenge Me" Forum
Forums - Scroll down to other resources - Click "Challenge Me" then its floating around somewhere.

Cheers y'all.

No offense to you, coelder, or the BT folks who take care of that stuff but the challenge forum is too busy for me. I like the idea better of it being GA only - mainly because it would be easier to keep up with. (and smack talk )

So, I'm out of the "official" challenge but will probably do something similar anyway.

Agreed that the challenge forum is overwhelming, but currently the Swimtemper Challenge is the 9th thread so if we post in there, it will stay in the top few and then we won't have to search through all of the Ghoulies and Crushers to find it.

C'mon Mindy!  We might even inspire some other BT-ers to get their swim on.

Smack talk is actually highly encouranged in the challenge forum, and it's a great opportunity to meet some other BT'ers that you might not otherwise get a chance to know.

That said, if folks want to create a challenge that is aimed only at GA BT'ers via the GA forum, there's absolutely no problem with that.

Feel free to post times here, smack talk between Georgians and generally give The Cap a hard time.

I'll be keeping up with both forums and make sure nothing gets missed.

The results are slowly rolling in and I'm feeling the intensity.  I'm surprised phat hasn't accepted the challenge.  Maybe he's just not up to it...

500 m TT 9:10 today- ouch! I think I am no longer IronFit.

I guess I will shoot for an 8:4X at the end of the month

Did you just go into the challenge forum and steal my time?  Seems we have a serious challenge here.

7:02 for 500 TT...ugh.  i let things go, but that is just this side of sad.  Areas of improvement:

  • Flip turns - sharp for the first hundred, then i did not get that sharp crisp turn with a strong push off.  Worth 7 to 10 seconds.
  • Form break down from 250 - 350.  Started to push to hold a pace and form tightened up.  Also, I need to make sure I get a good catch on all strokes and not take a stroke off now and then.  Smooth things out and rotate the hips.  Worth 5 seconds
  • General form was average at best.  Not sure what i can get in a few weeks but I will say 5 seconds.

Goal will be 6:40 on Dec. 30.  5.2% improvement.

Just found my swim challenge for next week...check out this workout!  8,200 yards, it will be like high school/college all over again.

Holy jeebus
And I thought breaking 4500 was good...

I really hope the kick part of her workout is with fins.  If not, I may cry knowing that she can hold 1:30's kick.

Good luck Cap!

My friend Allison can do 1:30 kick without fins.  She is a beast.

That workout has some neat ideas.  There is a watered down 4,500 meter version in the last part that might work as a really long workout for us mere mortals.

Had a great swim last night at dynamo!  Good yardage and mix of distance and speed work.

How's everyone doing leading into the holidays?
Good luck, swim hard!

I have failed miserably in the DeSwimber Challenge and haven't even made it to the pool.  I might have to do-over in January since there is only one week left in December.

3 more days!  I haven't timed anything since my 500 so I have no idea.  But of course, I will be waiting til the last minute (as if that's going to make me faster).

Man, I was bad in December...barely got into the pool towards the last few weeks. I will try to do a 500 yd TT in the next week, though I know it is not going to be good...

I know it doesn't really count since I'm 6 days past, but I just wanted to share that I swam exactly 8:30 for my 500!  (That was my goal).  Down 40 seconds!  And since I haven't swam since early last week, it's not like I got extra practice in.

No worries! I started the thing and am going to do mine tonight!

It's amazing what the holidays will do...

got my TT in 6:28.  3 seconds off the goal!  Missed a bunch of workouts and was pretty lazy during the New Years week.  Guess that means I'll have to work harder over the next 3 months!

When everyone gets their times in I'll post the final results.

I never actually did my TT, so you can list mine as "fell off of the wagon".  I'm back on this week, though.  : )
