Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:30 to get Willie up and going. MIL, not even here a week and we are getting benefits, came to hang with Will.
Load Y and Kara in car and off at 7:45 perfect. Great where Ken? Who driving us there. Not sure I know how to do this. Oh yeah i need to be behind that steering wheel thing. Made it somehow. Good parking spot hit the head the girls used the boys room it was just a single seater next to the boys locker room so boys really didn't need it.
Strolled outside to face the cold.
Event warmup:

1/4 mile run or so fast to see how cranky the leg was going to be. Not bad at all. Lined up 25 feet from front and waited.

Comments:

Didn't have a plan or real goal till Kara asked me what about it walking from the car. Then decided to run pretty fast and I did. 4th or 5th fastest 5K.
Seated myself well in the pack and the start was good without to much running over slower peoples. Good job peoples! Was nice to hear 7:15 pace the first mile. I didn't bother looking at the Garmin thought run and pass as many Moms in Motions I could.
Could feel myself slowing down. Walked 100 feet at rest stop to drink.
Did my Public Service deal at the chute, held my pace and let a bunch of people feel better passing me.
What would you do differently?:

Not fall down on Monday evening. Wear two shirts instead of shirt and jacket. Shorts worked well despite boos and hisses from Y and Kara.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran back to cheer Kara and Y in. Ran last 1/4 mile with Y. Grabbed water and went to Forest Hills Dinner to meet Mike and Madie for breakfast. Sorry Ken, the Mississippi Benedict was good. Biscuit, sausage, egg smothered in gravy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Gravity and Twinkies.

Event comments:

Good race and happy to have Y and Kara do well. Ken we missed you, in fact we are still in the parking lot waiting for a ride home, HELLO? Mike fix the stupid foot!

You're killing me! I had a bowl of Special K after the bike!

Nice race, you killed this run especially with the fall earlier in the week!

Hopefully we'll both be around for the post or pre X-mas run!

Sweet run!

Given your tendency to fall down and go boom that must feel pretty good too  Wink

Nice race! Very fast considering your fall and the Twinkies holding you back. Too bad about Mike's foot; I'll bet you two would have had fun racing one another.
