Subject: Upgrade/ new bike on a budget?
I've been looking at getting a Cannondale Slice 5 this season, I like the bike and the price, or should I upgrade my current set up, which is a Specialized Tarmac Comp, with T2 aero clip ons. I've been thinking of upgrading my wheel set.

Where I live, NW Ohio, Its REALLY flat but usually windy. I've only been racing Tri's for one season and plan on doing 3-4 this coming season with 2 being HIM's then in 2012 a full IM. I feel like the bike I have is more than sufficient but I could make it better or I could buy an entry level tri bike.

So I'm perplexed, would I benifit from the Slice over a new wheel set on my Road bike?

Best Upgrades: Aerohelmet, Aero disc-cover (i.e. wheelbuilder.com), racing tires and latex tubes. (total ~$300). wheel upgrade is not as good value (cost-for-speed gained)

As for Tri-bike vs. upgrade Roadbike. The biggest advantage of a tribike over a roadbike with clipons is the geometry. You will be sitting in a more naturally aerodynamic position.

In summary - get the new bike and if you have any cash left over, get the aerohelmet, disc cover, tires/tubes.
