Comments:

Didn't do enough long run training for this race. Had some problems with L. Hamstring pain and L. foot numbness that slowed me significantly around mile 17 and beyond.

Having completed my first 2 HIM events this year, I believe the marathon is much tougher than a half IM. The duration of repetitive running is tougher physically and mentally than the variety of all 3 events.
What would you do differently?:

Follow the training plan.

Very nice race!! Congratulations on your first marathon finish!

You are right, I think due to expectations, etc. that the stand alone is even harder than the IM marathon.  You'll find that out next November!
