Overall I'm stoked on my performance for this 5K. I wasn't expecting a great time b/c the roads, trails and bridges were ice and snow covered...I figured I would just find an easy pace and try to stick with it and do my best not to fall. About a quarter mile into the race I hung with the FOP and was in 5th, legs were feeling really good. But then at .50 mile, I got lost on the trail, took a wrong turn and ended up doing an extra .10 miles to get back on track. Too much snow on the ground and not enough markers to guide me. Anyhow I kept pushing on, I finished 11th overall and 1st in my AG, final pace was marked at 7:06/miles. First time I did this kind of pace outdoors and in the snow no less. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured during the race, lots of falls, but nothing a cup of coffee couldn't fix.

Thanks for letting me share!

Congrats!  As bizarre as it sounds, I tend to have my best races or training days in the worst conditions.  Maybe it's a mental thing or the cooler weather helps, but you sound like your in the same boat!

Again, nice job on the race!

I did a 6 mile training run today in 27 degrees and had to dodge snow/ice and ended up running faster then my last official 10k pace.  And the pace felt like a training pace.  I think I should just race in winter only.

Congrats on having such a good race!
