I ran the H.U.F.F (33 miles) on Saturday.  Ran 2 laps (22 miles) then walked most of 3rd lap due to stomach issues.  Once I threw up, I felt GREAT and ran the rest of the way.  My question is this...why wasn't I sore during or after the race?  My first marathon (Disney), I was seriously sore for a few days afterwards.  First trail marathon (huge hills) was sore even during the race.  Possible reasons why I wasn't sore - what do you think?:

1.  Just getting more experienced at longer runs.
2.  Back-to-back long runs training for the 50K.
3.  Air temperature (15-25 degress the whole time).
4.  Most of the race (but not all) was on trails vs pavement.

(I did not sit in ice water afterwards)

Congrats!

Why weren't you sore?  If you're like me, trail runs are a slower pace (not necessarily "easy" but definitely slower than roads).  I was far more sore after Flying Pig this year than I was after any of my ultras or my Ironman, but I really pushed the first half of the marathon.
