All righty, gang-- I've just spent all day in front of the computer working on grant applications, so am a little punchy right now... let's see if I can add some photos for some mid-week bike porn! (If not, my apologies-- you can find 'em on my pictures page.)

Take one-- here goes...

ETA: Hey! It worked! Not sure why they appear in the order in which they do, but there you have 'em: the Phantom, in all her glory! Enjoy!

Beautiful sexy bike Alex, she looks FAST!!  I especially like the red tires, as you know I am all about the matching!!  I can't see is she a P2, 3 or (dare I say it?!) a P4??!

Shawn, thanks for the fund raising gaucherie, yes every little bit will help!  We are visiting the prosthetic place on Friday, and hope to have a better idea of what will work for Reade and the costs... will definitely let you in on the inside scoop!

Life has been insane!  Sick, holidays, sick friends, friends with operations, and then I dislocated my shoulder Sunday lifting a Christmas tree at our fire department tree lot.  It popped back in but it's still sore as hell, so I'm off the bike for a few more weeks.  Running only.  Thankfully, the weather just turned, so at least now I feel like it's winter...

I'm glad your son is doing better Hilde, and that he's still got a positive attitude, and such a good role model and family to help him through this.

So in case things continue on this crazy path (highly likely, as my husband has been working 14 hour days 7 days a week for the past month, and we're not sure if he'll have Christmas off),  and I can't get on here to say, I hope everyone has a good rest of December, and a Happy *insert holiday of choice here*

And a Happy New Year!!!!

So glad the bike porn was "good for you" out there! She's a P2, Hilde-- I'm afraid a P4 is WAAAAY out of my league both financially and in terms of my own capacities at the moment! But she's purty all the same, and I'm getting used to the new geometry. Not entirely sold on the seat yet, but that may be a matter of adjusting and/or trying different things until I find the right setup.

And yes, when they asked me if I wanted a red trainer tire, I said, "Of course!" She's got plain black tires (at the moment) for road work, but I'm highly amused at the colour coordination for the winter months at least! Laughing

Submitted my final grades today, so am DONE with the term! Funny that my brain (or what's left of it) now feels like it's dribbling out my ears...the prospect of actual TIME OFF will take a bit of getting used to. (Hang in there, MMM teachers-- I promise it's almost over!!)

Hope you all have wonderful weekends!

joes - 2011-12-10 6:46 AM Hey Wilson, give Alex the low-down on saddles....even if it's from our side of "things."

Alex, thanks for the bike porn!!!  Looks like Brad appreciated it too.....LMAO....Saddles, yes my Fizik that came with my Look576 was horrible.....I bought The Adamo Road....this saddle is FU$#@%@%#KING awesome.  If you goto Adamo's website they have a great selection tool.  I rented one from my LBS before buying it.....The seat looks really funky but it's a relief on all the guys and gals soft tissue.....I think Joe has the Cobb seat - they are both designed by essentially the same small group of people.  The adamo I have is especially made for a TT bike for aero....they have all kinds to fit your riding needs...they are not cheap.  The LBS pissed me off in the rental process....long story....so I bought mine on ebay for $100 instead of $170 at the LBS.....I try to support my LBS, but if they behave badly they don't deserve my money....

Haven't been on here for a while ... busy I guess.  BUT I do have a question.  My garmin won't turn on!  This happened before and someone told me what to do ... but I forgot.  Does anyone have thoughts on how to get it to turn on?

Alex, I have the Cobb V- Flow Max. It took a month or so to get used to it, but I'm very happy with it now. I know most places have either a demo plan or a return policy that lets you try it out; I'd say give a new saddle a dozen or rides before making a decision. Love the bike, by the way!

Press Mode + Lap Timer  -- that's a soft reset -- then power on.

Cobb V-Flow Plus here.  I reached out to Cobb about their saddles and the owner's wife, Ginger, got back to me almost immediately with an answer to my questions.  One thing she told me is that if you have thicker thighs, they recommend the Plus because it is slightly narrower.  I preferred the Cobb to the Adamos because it does have a bit of a nose on the saddle, even if it seems to be mostly foam (it also sits down slightly so I know where to rest my family jewels but I don't think that's high up on your list).

They also have some sort of insane try-it-out policy of 180 days or so (at least it used to be).  I can tell you that I went from being not able to ride for more than ten minutes and then not being able to sit at all in the real world to nearly instantaneously being just fine all around after I put the Cobb on my bike.  The right saddle makes a huge difference!!

I have the Cobb V-Flow plus, very comfie!  The stock saddle definitely was not kind to my tender girlie parts!  And yes, they have 180-day take it back warranty.  I tried the regular Cobb first, but it wasn't quite right and had no problems exchanging it for the Plus.

Thanks for the race well wishes, Shawn!  I'm pretty gosh darned sore today though!  I have updates on all Reade's stuff on my blog if you're interested....

Thanks so much for the saddle info, gang! I'll try the one I've got a few more times, then talk to the LBS about maybe trying something else-- the Cobb V-flow Plus sounds like a definite candidate... will let you all know whatever I end up with (and yeah, I so wasn't going to go with the original fizik saddle-- knew that already! I've got a Luna on her right now at the recommendation of the LBS, but I'm sure we can talk trade-ins as needed...

Have started looking at HIMs in the UK, as I'm likely to be there when my training plan calls for a HIM-- lovely to have options, I must say, though all those hills look a tad daunting on some of them... ah well, just more HTFU material, right? (Did I mention that the bike for my IM will be 40-some laps of a F-1 course? No need to worry about the condition of the road, at least! )

It's my anniversary today.... 28 years!!  Now THAT is an accomplishment!!  Not sure what we're doing, Friday is Ron's day off, I imagine he's knee deep in kitchen preparations already, he just loves to cook!  I'd be just as happy if we were going out, guess it'll be a surprise when I get home!

Nah, I'm okay with dishes if he cooks because I really don't like to cook.  Don't get me wrong, I CAN cook and can do a pretty good job, I just don't like to!
