How the transport of athletes/family back to Wilmington workout this year with the added buses?  How'd the bike transport workout, any worries on how the bikes were loaded, etc?

Considering going back to B2B in 2012 for the half and don't want to end up in the nightmarish waits I saw while out on the full course in 2009.  Read a few race reports and didn't see any mention of it.

Like Oldteen, I finished around the 13 hour mark, but didn't leave until ~11:00, at which point there was no wait for the trolley (which you're allowed to bring your bike on).  However, coming into T2 after the bike leg (~1430)  the line for the trolly/bus looked pretty long as the 70.3s were leaving.

I did the breakfast cruise in the morning, so didn't leave my bike there overnight so I wouldn't have to deal with it in the morning.

I'll throw this out there for anyone still looking at this thread:

So now that our big day at B2B is three weeks past, what plans are you making for 2012? Another IM? Focus on short stuff? Never want to hear about triathlon again?

For myself, I think B2B is going to be my A race again..oh, foolish alltom1.

I'll let you in on a little insider secret. The fastest way to get across the bridge after the race is to have your mom trip over a safety cone and bust her chin open. Not only do you get a ride to the trolley, cut in line, but the trolley driver will drive you right to your car.

If only I could be foolish like you and sign up for B2B again. I would do it in a heartbeat. Trouble is, my husband requested that I not do a full next year. Super sad.
So, I will do a couple of halves and a marathon. Doing Portland REV3 for sure.

Vineman next year.  Then back to B2B or maybe IMFL the following year.  I loved loved loved B2B but Vineman has been on my radar for a while as well.

I'll be back to do B2B next year.  I think I might sign up for the St. George IM in May.  I'm sure the swim and bike will be a bit more challenging, but they have changed the run course to make it more bearable.

Don't know how many follow on facebook but they just changed the date for B2B 2012 to October 20th if that makes a difference for anyone.  I am in for 2012 either way!     They said the City of Wilmington asked them to change the date due to some other events in the area that same weekend.  Also, the medical team requested an earlier date as well to cut down on hypothermia.

Setup is claiming "more favorable swim tides" for the new dates, but when I looked at tide charts earlier this month, the original date of Nov 3 looked really good. Lost some of my bookmarks. Does anyone have the link to the tide station that is closest to the swim start?

Based on Wrightsville Beach tides (NOAA source), swim tides will be much worse for the new Oct date.

OK, I found the Masonboro Inlet tide charts. As best I can tell, the Oct 20 tide conditions will be closer to those in 2010 than this year. That may make it a no go for me--that was a rough swim.

Nov 13, 2010: high tide 1:03 pm; 3.8 feet (low tide 6:43 am)

Nov 3, 2011: high tide 10:06 am; 5.7 feet

Oct 20, 2012: high tide 12:16 pm, 5.1 feet (low tide 5:39 am)

Nov 3, 2012: high tide 11:06 pm, 4.3 feet

Haing two transistions wasn't a big deal, since you just drop your T2 bag off you don't need to set anything up.  Just take your bag into the changing tent and drop it off as you leave.  I thought it was real smooth and you just hand your bike off to a volunteer so it's  not like your looking for your rack spot.

The date change  is problematic for us so I may have to put this off for another year or two.  I really want to get back to Wilmington someday.

After doing the half this year I really wanted to come back and do the full in 2012.  I read of the date change to my weekend to work which ended my dream before it started.  Maybe 2013 will be on my weekend off.  B2B was a great race that I will do again

Looking at doing B2B Iron Distance next year. How was the temperature during the race and how much do you think it will change with the earlier date for 2012?

Heat I can stand (I did IMKY in 2010 and the temperatures were brutal), but I haven't raced long distance in the cold.

Two weeks one way or the other isn't going to make that big of a difference. Although air temps were 10-15 degrees lower in 2010 when race was mid-November, it was a warmer race with dry and sunny conditions. In contrast, this year at end of October air temps were warmer, but it was a very cold bike because of wet, windy and cloudy conditions. Mid-Atlantic/southeast weather is pretty much a crap shoot in the Fall. Could be 90 or 40.

Very cold???  VC in my book includes sleet or freezing rain.  With proper attire this year's B2B bike leg was refreshing!  When the sun came out I was honestly enjoying my ride Cool (until @#$%**!! flat @108mi, but that's another story).

Agree 100% that Fall weather is generally a crap shoot.  The unpredictable weather is part of what makes Fall events fun
