I'm in.  First IM distance race for me.  I hope I have enough time to be ready for it.  I'm racing a half mary end of March, so I have my work cut out for me after that.

I'm doing Barb's race which is the same course, same day, just half the distance - can I peek in here too? It's my first HIM.

My husband and I are in!  We just started our 30 week Be IronFit training plan this week.

Does anyone have any hotel recommendations?

Awesome! Nice to see I will have some company! I've been out of triathlon for about 5 years and really excited to get back to Ironman! I will do some research on accommodations, it's been over 10 years since I've done the race so don't remember specifics on hotels though, I'll check with my wife!

Registered before the end of the year.  I did IMCdA in '09 so this is my second ironman (as long as W-O-R-K doesn't screw it up).

Tentatively planning to come out Wednesday before and then stay a little over a week after.

I'm in as well. As for accommodations, I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn last year for Vineman 70.3. Its by the airport and about 20-25 min from Johnsons beach and about 10 min. from the finish.

I'm in as well.  This will also be my first IM distance.  I'm doing an OLY in early March and a HIM in mid April as preparation for Vineman.

Looking for accommodations as well.

I checked them out and they are charging about $170/night.  Is there anything cheaper than that around the area?

Me too!  And I am also doing the Iron Fit program, going into week 2....

This is my second IM, and hopefully it will go much better than the last one.  I'm stoked!

I am making plans to fly into San Diego the week before the race, renting a car and driving up Highway 1 with my mom.  Its something she has always wanted to do so the whole week is going to be really amazing.    I can't wait!

I'm in as well! Anyone know how soon one needs to zero in on housing prior to the event? Trying to decide between a few options and don't want them to fill up or jack the prices up. Any thoughts?

I did the race a few years ago and the bike course is stunning!! It goes through wine country so a nice blend of rolling hills with only one semi-nasty climb towards the end of each loop! It is beautiful countryside though!!

I just did my first long ride outside today.  Wow- not only was in chilly (I'm in NC) but I have a lot of work to do on the bike!  Hopefully I'll be ready come July!

You'll be fine!  July is a long way away.  Just keep making progress.

I'm not riding outside probably until March or April.  25F with snow and ice ALL OVER the ground today.

Great to find other people with Vineman on their minds.

I've wanted to do this for years and finally get the chance. This will be my first full distance race.

Doing Boise 70.3 as a warm-up or thrashing but really focused on this race. Good to hear that others are back for more punishment. I have family in Santa Rosa and have stayed at various hotels in the area over the years.

If people are looking for affordable hotels, it seems like north end of Santa Rosa tends to be cheaper and is closer to the race.

Looking forward to learning, sharing and racing together.

Oh hai! Just found this thread, and although there is no chance in the world that I will be doing the FULL Vineman, if any of y'all are in the area training, feel free to give a shout. We're happy to ride the course with you any time. And we know were all the good restaurants are.
