Overall Rank = 310/893
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 54/104
Pre-race routine:

nutrition english muffin w/pb and some coffee cake(won't do that again)
Event warmup:

warm up in water maybe 200 meters
Swim
  • 16m 27s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m / 100 yards
Comments:

somewhat choppy after the first 200m. I was caught right in the middle of the pack for the first 6 to 8 mins. then broke out to the outside. Tried to draft when possible.

What would you do differently?:

Should position myself better at the start and probably take off a little faster.
Transition 1
  • 03m 41s
Comments:

Need to work on T1. I took it slower than at cranberry because my heart rate was high (upper 170s) while running from the swim and Iwanted todry off this time because it was somewhat cold.
What would you do differently?:

1)shoes that i can put on while riding
2)practice, practice
Bike
  • 1h 14m 11s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.10 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike ride for me. I broke the 20mph barrier. Yeah! Pushed it a little harder than my last (and first Oly) tri.
What would you do differently?:

Just need to increase overall miles to get a bigger aeorobic engine next year.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

not much to say
What would you do differently?:

just practice more
Run
  • 53m 42s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good throughout the run. Mile splits as follows: 8:59, 8:42, 8:59, 8:49, 8:13, 8:04. Sprinted towards finish, which was a mistake as my left hamstring cramped as I crossed the line.

Much improvement over last triathlon, the marathon training is paying off.
What would you do differently?:

Not sprint at the finish
Post race
Warm down:

post race nutrition amino vital, oranges, and a bagel.

Event comments:

Overall great race, except for two problems
1)registration they screwed up where they had my packet. I live in NYC, but they had it up in Rye.They told me that theywould have would bring it down to NYC the next day, but didn't and then told me to pick it up at the expo on Sat.
2)Swim - distance not 1500m, more like 1000m. Not that big of a deal except they never told us what true distance was.

Awesome work there buddy boy! Didn't know lab mixes could ride bikes--much less 20+ mph!
