Subject: RE: Off season training?? - I need certainly need it I haven't really figured my full plan out yet. There are 3 certification levels (I, II, III ) and they basically require increasing levels of education and experience. Level I is fairly easy but Level II requires at least 2 years of coaching experience and either a degree in sports science or a combination of various certifications (ACSM, USA Cycling, USA Swimming, USATF... ). Level III is new and requires at least 5 years coaching, 2 years Level II certification, BS degree is exercise science or related field, and references from at least 2 elite ITU or top level long course athletes that you have coached...and those are just the pre-reqs! I'll probably start out just working locally (maybe in conjunction with my local tri shop Final Kick ) to get some experience and then I'll consider going online. At this point I have a lot to learn and I certainly don't feel qualified to formally coach anyone, but that is what the training workshop and experience are for. I'd ultimately like to make a career change in 5 years or so and do personal training and tri coaching full time...as well as devote more time to my personal training. |
