Member 47![]() Boulder City, NV | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself to RWB BT'ers!Hi, all! Found out about Team RWB in a backwards manner... but I'm here! My service background is 20-years Navy as a Disbursing Clerk, with a whole slew of duty stations and deployments, but I've been retired for three years now. Noticing that I was getting out of shape -- and having a retired PNCS buddy (who happens to be at Lemoore at PSD) coming out here to Nevada to do the RAGE Sprint Triathlon, I initially thought I was just going to support him, but ended up recatching the triathlon bug (I did them a lifetime ago, in the 80's). We decided we needed to create a team that was dedicated to getting more sedentary people into a more active lifestyle, and our team, Xtreme Average, was born. It then grew into needing to do something that supported the military, so we worked our network with Wounded Warrior Project and Ride2Recovery and felt like we were really going somewhere then. Happened to find out about BT a month or so ago, which led me to RWB, and here I am! Currently, I'm building up a base of people here in the Las Vegas area (both civilian and veteran) who are interested in getting active, and help them out with the moral support and group sessions where they don't feel so self-conscious. Our mantra in Xtreme Average is "No Athlete Left Behind", so the encouragement factor is a key thing there. Personally, I've got the goal of doing a 70.3 somewhere, but taking it slow with some intermediate goals (like a half-marathon next year) and some fun stuff (like zombie runs, and the like). |

I am not a person who can just go and workout for health sake. I need a goal and a challenge..I found it. I am addicted to doing these races. I am hoping to do my first Olympic distance this year. I look forward to meeting more veterans in my area (Toledo) and hope to be able to have some training partners. Above all I hope to raise the visibility of Team RWB in my area so more Vets and active duty come out and run.
Thanks Scott |

New user 1 Sun Prairie, WI | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself to RWB BT'ers!Howdy Doody!!!! Just got access to this forum this am and am sitting here trying to figure out what to say. LOL I am Daphne and I spent 5 yrs active duty in the Navy both on a Carrier (with 1 deployment under my belt) and with the Seabees. I was introduced to Team RWB around mid 2012 from fellow members Jillian & Joel O'Malley and have been out spreading the word as heavily as possible since. I, like so many, have been looking for a group that embodies the mission of "never left behind" and have found it within Team RWB. I have been able to finish 2 5ks in 2012 which for me was a HUGE accomplishment since I had severed my knee back on 07 and hadnt been able to do any training or such up until last year. However that is a story all in its own for another time. I am located in Sun Prairie Wi with my Husband Jason Madaus (who is the WI Team RWB Capt) and our 2 kids (Mikhail our son is 8 and Haylee our daughter is going to turn 5 this month)..Funny thing is our kids have already caught the 'bug'. Mikhail is already asking to find some kids tris locally to do and Haylee is a running all the time.

I've been racing for RWB for a little over a year now and it's a wonderful community that's doing meaningful things in building relationships with transitioning service members in our communities. It's an exciting movement to be a part of. While I myself have not served in the military, my father is a retired Lt. Col. from the Marine Corps and my Partner/Boyfriend (whatever the term is for a grown-up) is an active duty major in the Airforce who is getting ready to retire after 20 years of service and who also serves as the Ohio Chapter Captain for Team RWB. Caroline Gaynor is in charge to the Triathlon "division" of Team RWB and is working diligently to connect RWB Triathletes and keep us all abreast of major RWB Triathlons. You can email her with questions at Caroline.Gaynor@teamrwb.org Again Welcome Aboard. ETA: It would help if I told you my name: It's Danielle and again welcome. Out of great respect for our vets I've joined this team to do what I can for them. There are many times in life where I feel I don't quite know how to show my appreciation. So, to thank all the vets that have supported and protected us (me), it's my turn to support you and wear the red, white, and blue! |

My name is Chris Gregg. I'm a Navy veteran ('89-'93) and after having the opportunity to meet with a couple of great Team RWB people at IM 70.3 San Juan, I decided that I'd like to give back to the military community at join RWB myself. I'm excited to be here and to be representing something greater than myself, again. |

New user 10 WSU | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself to RWB BT'ers!Greetings all. My name is Chris and I am a retired Chief Petty Officer ('86-'06) I just started with Team RWB this year, but will keep the support going. Currently I live on the Palouse, in Pullman, WA. I am currently a graduate student at WSU. Since I am semi isolated out here on the Palouse from a couple of the regional clubs and if things go well with my GQE (allowing me to stay for prolly 5 more years), then I will try to get a chapter going down in this area with the support of the Veterans Association on campus. My first ever sprint triathlon will be Moses Lake and hope my suit will be here in time for the race. |

Veteran 302![]() ![]() ![]() Columbus, Ohio | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself to RWB BT'ers!Hello everyone! My name is Dan and I live in Columbus, Ohio. I have been a religious user of BT for several years and have been a member of Team RWB for a few months now. Just this week I signed on to be the Athletic Director for our Columbus chapter. I'm very excited to jump in and help RWB and our members. I learned about Team RWB from Danielle (twinklebug) and Dean (RunningFlyr). I kept seeing their posts about RWB on here and Facebook and it peaked my interest. I've been married to the most supportive woman on this earth for almost 14 years and we have 3 daughters. I am an Army veteran (98-01). I was a Parachute Rigger and was stationed at Fort Bragg. I'm currently a Sergeant with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and supervise our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. I'm a triathlete and am training for my second Ironman (Florida). I did Louisville in 2011. Anywho, that's me. |
