Gelcoe Club

Sunny
Total Time = 44m 35s
Overall Rank = 42/490
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 9/31
Pre-race routine:

Got up 2 hrs before start, ate poptart and some cereal. Debated clothing choices so took everything. 2 feet of snow yesterday, crews were out clearing early. Side roads were still several cm deep of snow, which is exactly like running in sand.

Event warmup:

Ran 1-2K about 30 mins before, decided on shorts, long tech top with another short tech on top. Worked perfect, no heat/cold issues. Gloves and runcap.

Run
  • 44m 35s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 28s  min/km
Comments:

Hard not to be pissed off at a worse time. Best is 42, this was 44.5. Did cross with a dude who runs sub 40 but he was having an off day. Will see how the half in two weeks goes. Also need to see official results to see placing compared to last year. Edit-yep, even with slower speed, I'm up 7 spots.

What would you do differently?:

Wear snow shoes?

Post race
Warm down:

Big Buffet afterwards, hard to stick to diet and not eat too much. Ham and some coffee with a bit of waffle/syrup.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lots of long slow run, not as much fast stuff this winter since doing IMC instead of marathon this year.

Event comments:

Massive prizes for each age group and draws for bikes and trips!
