1:00 sounds pretty good to me, gives everyone time to get there after the noon athlete meeting.

By the way Tony, we need a picture of the two Planet X's this weekend.

So you're riding that instead of the road bike this year?  LOL, as much as i've been on my road bike this year I would love to have it on those descents vs. my Tri-bike.

Yeah, I've lost a couple of brain cells since last year. This time I plan on being that guy walking my bike up the climb at mile 8

Chris, I don't believe it's possible to ride the course from the actual start due to traffic, correct?

Where is a good starting point, I want to ride most of it on Friday afternoon if possible.

EDIT: Also are you the Chris that posted it on RidewithGPS?  If so thanks, just saved me the time for creating a cue sheet.

Nope, wasn't me that posted it on rwGPS... sadly I'm too poor for all that goodness.

I'm not 100% sure how the course deviates from last year. It has to some, as the Henley Street bridge is closed, and it was a pretty integral part of getting us from the start to the main section. Still, I'd say the best place to head out is just at the sunsphere.  I'd like to get a ride in myself

Can anyone that is local provide some advice.  My wife, myself and our 2-year old son, along with my parents (in their 70s) are staying at the Crowne Plaza on Summit Hill Drive.  My wife and myself are doing the Oly.  Is it close enough and safe for my parents to walk to the finish line with our son?  If so what is the best route.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

CRunner10 - 2011-05-10 7:55 AM Just added Knoxville to my weather app. Thunderstorms for the next 10 days! Not too excited about that.

bleh, 40% chance of showers on Sunday. It forecast 100% of T-storms on Sunday yesterday. No need to fret quite yet.

preciate you holding off the weather. just talked to my cuz who said it's been awesome in Knoxville. Good luck and have fun this weekend everybody.

That was a fun weekend.  Before we left my kids asked if we could come back for a third year.

I really like the sort of point to point swim here.  Some said it was long, I think there wasn't as much current as last year I was 6 minutes slower this year but last year was a freaky 7 minute Oly PR for me so it was short last year or there was a very fast current as I am not a 23:00 1500M swimmer.

The bike would be perfect if they could somehow close down a lane going over the mountains so you didn't have to worry about cars.  I almost slammed into the back of a minivan that decided it wasn't going to use it's turn signals when making a left turn at the bottom of a hill.

Another good job by the folks at Rev 3.

Overall I thought the Rev3 people did a great job. I was really thankful the rain held off for the race.  I would most likely come back next year to do this one again.  I really had some issues on the swim but I loved the challenge of the bike.  I didn't make it to Calhouns due to family issues but would love to try a get together next year.  Got the race report out for your reading pleasure.

Great weekend, love Knoxville. How do we find out times? I'm dying to know more. Anybody planning a comeback next year or too early to decide?
