Add another New Guy to the list!

Although I do swim with Aerobaldness (Ted) on Monday and Wednesdays.

I will most likely be bringing Cheese and Crackers + Some Fruit.

WOOOOT!   Getting very excited for this weekend.  I have a 13 mile run on tap for one of the two days... so.... I am thinking of arriving around 8:30am and running 10, then chilling while getting ready for the "tri".

10 + 3 is 13 in my book.

What...no weather comments yet??

I'll start...54 degrees for a high and 70% chance of rain.  This should be fun.

Remember to pull your wetsuits out and soak them overnight!  This will help limber the suit up for your first use on Sunday (if you've been a slacker like me)

I'll be arriving at the park at 8, so I might see you Jen.

I'm doing my w/o's early, but should be around after to partake in some festivities.

Is 11:00 the Unofficial start-ish time for the Unofficial Tri?

I keep telling myself the water will be the same temp regardless of the air temp, but now the high is only 55*. It may be getting into a range where I'm questioning my sanity.

I was just in the water yesterday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, actually quite nice with a wetsuit.

FOX 2 News Weather "A real soaker tomorrow".  Not so worried about the cold, but having done one of the T-Rex events out there in pouring rain, riding those hills in the rain is not a lot of fun.

I recommend we institute the Official BT Unofficial Weather Contingency Plan.  Could we:

  • Have someone (or a committee, so no one is saddled with the call alone) out that way make a go, no go call by 9:30am?  We far eastsiders have to head out around 9:30ish to get out there in time.
  • Set Sunday 5/22 as the back up date?  Long term forecast shows 76 & Sunny.

I second the contingency date! Far east-sider myself who would be making the drive simply for the swim as I won't bike new terrain in the rain.

Greetings,

New guy here, I'm planning on coming tomorrow as well! (Rain or shine, I'll be there, hoping others will too!).

I'll bring some chips, salt-free pretzels, triscits, etc.

This will be my first OWS so I'm fired up!

I look forward to learning from this group with all your experience.

R,

Scott

One more thing...do you guys recommend a swim cap for the colder water? I don't have one but can pick one up if I need to.

I think a go no go call would be ideal. Yesterday they said cloudy, rain and thunderstorms and it was sunny and beautiful. The local news usually concentrates on the detroit area. Brighton isn't really that close so it could actually be nice just cold. Takes me about 35 mins to get out to Island lake so it would be awesome to know if it was pouring out there before I decide to drive all the way out there

As another far eastsider, I will be checking the weather and checking here as well in the morning. I would be up for next weekend as well if tomorrow is a no go. 55 and rainy sounds good for a long run close to home. With no family commitments next weekend it could work better for me anyway.

5/22 is fine with me. 55 degrees and rain doesn't exactly sound like fun.

Ha!  I knew calling my 'not show up' shot would be premature, and silly. I've got a kid spending the night elsewhere, with a 'due back' time of 11AM. I've got a flight at 5PM out of metro, and I'm an hour away.. It'd be tight, so tomorrow is a nogo. But for the record: If I could make it, I'd be there, weather be damned. Those are some of the best workouts, ever. And most fun.

That said, if this floats to next weekend, I'm there. I may have kidlets in tow, I may not be there for the duration, but abso-friggin-lutely.

OMG Rick!  I have not seen you in something ridiculous like 3 years.  For real.  I plan on heading out for a run at 8:30 or so - with my bike and wetsuit in tow just in case the weather is cooperating.  You never know. I will not be bringing food though.

As another far East-Sider, I will check back tomorrow morning before leaving here. I have the charcol, 15 pack of all-beef burgers, cheese and buns. I can keep it until next week! I was planning on leaving around 9:30ish to be there about 10:30 for the official start of the unofficial BT Tri.

I will vote for next week, but if many are going tomorrow, so will I!

We are out. With this weather and being over an hour away the kids will not have much to do. We could swing next weekend also and Matt and I already did 15 miles yeasterday in the warmer rain. Colder and wind is not fun!
