i still need to get my baton trophy. i will cherish that thing more than my ironman medals.  running over 26.2 miles just isn't my thing... yet.

Yeah - reluctantly agreed to do the International/olympic - seriously? Why would I do a race where the swim is extra long and bike is extra short - that would be like taking some and putting them on Jeopardy. Are you racing?

rumor has it you've stepped up your game in the pool. kim says she sees you once a week. you should start going to 5:30 masters. KK needs a swim pal.

That's exactly how I feel! Mathematically I am going to spend about 35-40% of the race in the water and it doesn't make me happy, LOL.

karleen will swim a sub 30, so that'll put you back 5-7 minutes or so from her... get to work on the bike and run to catch her!

Congrats to everyone out at the Phoenix Tri yesterday.  I noticed Sally rocked the course (again) and pulled in the top female slot in the Sprint - Congrats!

The swim was rougher than expected (for the International distance, at least), as the winds were kicking up and we had some considerable chop on the lake.  The long run from the swim to transition was a bit inconvenient, but not overly painful.  The bike was hilly, as it always is at Lake Pleasant, and the run followed suit.  DCB put on another good event, although I hear the arrows on the trail portion of the run threw some people off course briefly.

Another good day of racing and sportsmanship out there.  Cam Hill is bad-a** - I was heading out on the bike, about 5 miles along, when he came tearing back the other way, finishing his 20 miler.  I think he was also the guy who came out of the water at like 25-26 minutes.

Personally, at 2:48:25, I calculate that out to a PR in comparison with some Oly races last summer, so I was happy - but I still need work for IM AZ.

Congrats! That was so much fun. I thought all the run was on trail so I was a bit thrown by the arrow showing the way up to the road. I've never swam in water that choppy, it is a good reminder to work on bilateral breathing! I had to laugh that by 10am, the lake was perfectly calm and it got hot out. I just loved that course though, definitely want to race out there again. Such a nice change from the flat, loopy races
