Subject: Runner's High----Swimming?

Just swam a 3600m in 1h12m and about 1/2 way into it I swear I got into a runner's high.  All of a sudden I notice I'm grinning like a mule eating briars and I could have  continued that pace for a week.  The only reason I stopped is a voice in my head was telling me not overdo it for risk of injury.

Has anyone else experienced a swimmer's high or was I just having a flashback while swimming?

I've only had a "high" once while exercising - running. It was AWESOME! I wish we could duplicate these moments in time. Congrats!

yep, I get this sometimes after a really intense squad session.  I love being so sensitive to my own endorphins - I get a high that's healthy, cheap and legal :-)

No, but I do get the voices in my head.  And I feel very mellow and happy after workouts.

I was just talking about this with a training partner.  Swims like this happen about once a month for me.  Just flying at about 1:20 pace with no muscle pain or lactic acid build up at all.  Breathing smooth.  Awesome feeling!
