Subject: swim goggles....all of a sudden uncomfortable

I've been swimming with the same goggles, well, since I started swimming (early '09 - but took a year off).

Recently, like the last few weeks, my goggles have been bothering my eyes.  The skin under my eyes has been getting swollen, and they're much darker (bags/almost black eyes).

I haven't changed anything, I don't get it.  They're not any tighter, I've been using them consistently for a few months now, and it just seemed to start maybe a month ago.

Do I need new goggles?  Is there something else?  Is this a common problem, or am I just weird?

Most likely the rubber is just worn out.  Time for a new pair!

The rubber can lose its softness and feel harder.  It's also possible that the "batch" that this pair was made from was using a slightly different compound.
