Comments:

Interesting run. There were 6 open athletes in front of me. I was one of the fastest age groupers. I hopped off bike feeling great and was tearing it up. Throughout the bike, I played leap frog with #91, and he eventually got away from me towards the end of the first lap. I saw him again as I was leaving T2 and decided to go chase him. I slowly caught him around mile 2. I ran the first 3 miles in 19 minutes flat. (6:19 per mile, on pace for low 39 minute run) I was feeling real good. HR was around 170ish (LT 170) and things were cooking along. Around mile 3.5, I developed a side cramp, then I got nauseous and dry heaved several times. It came out of no-where and left rather quickly. I have no idea what hell happened. I said to another runner "puke and rally" and went back to it. That mile was 7:01---not too shabby. I then faded to a 7:11, then a 7:18 mile. I ran roughly a 3 minute positive split (yuck!) Its clear that I didn't have the endurance to maintain that pace for a full 6.2. My run training was intentionally neglected during the early part of the season so I could focus on the bike and swim. I need to bump up my long runs and push my mileage up to 40. Despite everything, the run was still decent. The run split was a PR by around 40-50 seconds. I'll be at 39 for Peachtree City Int'l and I expect to be mid 19's at Tanner next week.
Post race
Warm down:

Massage----always get the massage.

Event comments:

My only complaint is that the bike racks were too low to the ground. I could only rack my bike by my aero bars (which I don't like to do). I'm only 5'11. Overall,m as usual, set-up did a good job.
