While everyone is getting excited for this weekend, who is getting pumped for next weekend?

I'm racing the 70.3 on 5/14.  I'm a little behind schedule with my training/fitness level, but still pumped for the race!!!

Same here - I'm ready for next weekend and hoping we have better luck with the weather.  Forecast right now says scattered T-storms, hopefully it will hold off and we'll have a nice day.

One positive is all the rain might keep the lake cool and wetsuit legal.  A little extra buoyancy never hurt anyone!

I'll be there too.  Not that I'm really ready to race at this point but that's what happens when there is too much work and not enough biking.  But what's a little extra pain anyway?  Should be a good mental test for B2B.

At the start of today's sprint they said the temp was 71 degrees.  I think it probably warmed up today to 73 later in the day.  I hope you have as nice weather next Saturday as we did today.

+1 on the extra buoyancy.  I certainly need it after my last 1.2 mile swim time.. At least I'm fast on the bike.

I really hope we have better luck with the weather too.  Starting off on the bike would certainly disrupt the flow.

Wear bike shorts over your Tri-suits most of the roads are terrible.

Yes the roads are bad and I have ridden the course many times. When you make a right and making your way back to WL ,  either stay on the white line or on the right side of the white line where there are no bumps. Now at times it might feel like you have a flat tire , its just your tires slipping of the white line.

These roads are starting to sound real bad compared to what Set-Up said...

The roads aren't just bad, they are terrible.  The stretch on 210 is the best, but still not good.  Hwy 41 and Hwy 53 have those tar strips that are just so annoying.....

(FWIW, I raced the OLY there last september, rode the Half course twice in training and just raced the 69.1 on Saturday)

Weather.com is predicting 30%-40% scattered t-storms for the weekend.  Does anyone know if it's normal for there to be a chance of storms this time of year, but with the storms only coming in the morning or normally holding off altogether?  I live in Durham but I feel like the weather near the coast can be a bit more temperamental and unpredictable than what it is here.

Having been a resident of almost nine years of the great state of North Carolina, I have learned that when it comes to the spring/summer months, there is always a % chance of thunderstorms in the forecast.  Regardless of what it looks like outside.

I knew WTC trademarked 'Ironman', but I was unaware of the numbers.  Thanks for the information.

Well, it's not a race track, but they are paved .  Seriously, it's about the usual for roads.  There are some good spots, and there are some bad spots.  I've ridden them all with just an ITU suit, with no pad, so I wouldn't get too overly concerned.

Great info, everyone.  It's great to get insight into an unfamiliar course.

My wife and I are coming down from Ohio for this race.  It'll be her first HIM as she missed the TryCharleston two weeks ago due to a sick child.  She's stoked to finally do one and I'm excited to do my second.

Here's hoping the weather holds out (or at least passes quickly)!

I sat around too long after the finish and got the bottom fell out while we were schlepping all my gear back to the car.  Driving out it got even worse.  We got behind the Setup truck that was offering to pick people up on the run but nobody took up the offer.  We are a crazy group of people aren't we?
