List 'em!  Cool

I'm supposed to be doing the Mississauga Half this weekend but can't because I'm rehabbing my knee (tendinitis).  This morning I registered for:

* Guelph 1 (sprint)

* Peterborough (half swim/bike)

I'm also planning an Oly and leaning towards Bracebridge.  My "A" race is an HIM in Montreal in September.

Good call on Mississauga... doesn't look appealling with the rain forecast....

Anyway, I'll see on sunday

For me, it is:

- Woodstock

- Gravenhurst Oly

- Bracebridge Sprint

- Toronto Try

- HIM Muskoka

- Zoo run 10k

- Scotiabank Marathon

... That will be a busy season... :D

Not doing Toronto - registered, but my sis pulled her achilles and I don't really want to drive all the way up there, get a room and then run by myself. *frown*  Instead I'm doing Muddy River here in town.  Other than that - the WRACE run series and Leamington.

I have a busy 2011 season (by my standards), which has just gotten underway.  A year of firsts - first Half Marathon, first triathlon, first Marathon.  Near the end of last summer, I was 6'0" and 300lbs.  I'm now 80lbs lighter (and still at 6'0"!) - I'm ready to go!

  • Season started off with the 3rd 10K leg at Around the Bay in Hamilton (March)
  • Forest City Road Races (London, ON) Half Marathon (2 weeks ago)
  • Mercedes Oakville 10K (last weekend)
  • Mississauga Half Marathon
  • Woodstock Sprint
  • MS Bike Ride (Grand Bend-London)
  • Bracebridge Olympic
  • Wasaga Beach Olympic
  • Scotiabank Half Marathon
  • Goofy Race & A Half in early January, 2012

Sorry to hear about your knee Laurie.

Here are my races for 2011:

Around the Bay 30k
Paris to Ancaster (bike race)
Mississauga 1/2 Marathon
Subaru Victoria's Duathlon
Woodstock Triathlon
Binbrook Triathlon
Welland 1/2Iron Tri ("B" race)
Ironman Canada ("A" race)
HSBC Lakeside Sprint

A few Cyclocross races in the fall and maybe the Niagara Falls Int'l Full marathon in October.

I hope to see some of you at these events. Last year I met up with Ray V. at Victorias Duathlon - he's a nice fellow but once the race started he just shot off like an arrow and I never saw him again until the finish.  This year I'm looking for payback Wink

I am changing strategy this year, and instead of getting the Subaru Express pass and racing all the time (for example, in 2010 I did Guelph Lake I sprint, then the next day I did the OLY), I am only doing 3 races:

Guelph Lake I Sprint

Bracebridge Olympic

Muskoka 70.3

Every one of them are "A" races in my books, and I hope to set PR times in all three. I might do a 5k and 10k in the fall, but haven't decided on which ones to do.

Oh, and you might see me spectating at: Victoria Du, Guelph Lake OLY, Toronto Island, Guelph Lake II, and Lakeside. Hope everyone races well!

My 2011 Races:

-30k Around the Bay (Complete)

-Ottawa Early Bird Sprint Tri (May 21st)

-Ottawa River Oly Triathlon (June 9)

-Barry's Bay Triathlon (June 26)

-Deep River Triathlon (July 31)

-Muskoka 70.3 "A Race" (Sept. 11)

That should be it for the Tri Season.  Pretty much all the same races I did last year so hoping to set some new PR's.  Pumped about my Sprint next weekend, this race will be about shaking out the cobwebs.  Happy Training everyone and enjoy this season!  Have fun!!!

Belwood

Orillia

Muskoka 70.3

Basically 1 event per month, and looking to be competitive in my AG this year.

Toronto Half Marathon (was training for a PR but I got sick this week.  BOO!)

Woodstock Tri (sunday race)

Welland Half IM

After that I'm not sure.  I will probably do a couple of short tris - probably the Lake side sprint and maybe couburg?  Probably a half marathon in the fall.  I have a bunch of friends training for their first and I think I'm going to have some unfinished business at the finish line tomorrow unless my chest miraculously clears up overnight!

Anyone have a suggestion for a fast fall half marathon?  I'm thinking about Hamilton.  There is also Niagara, don't know of any others.  Suggestions?

Half marathons:

Prince Edward County - usually the first weekend in October

Angus Glen in Markham later in the October

Ottawa Fall Colours - not sure on timing but i think also early in October

Oh wait you said fast ...

There's also the Army Half marathon in Ottawa usually mid September ...

Mississauga Half - Done!Milton Tri (or Du) - June 5th (race prep)Guelph OLY - June 19th (A Race)Musselman Half Iron - July 17th (may be crawling across the finish)Ontario Women's Series Sprint - September (fun race with friends)Fall Half Marathon - probably HamiltonI feel like I am being overly ambitious this year and won't be doing this many challenging races again in one year. I signed up for the Musselman HIM back in January in when I was stir crazy. This spring has been really difficult with an injury and poor weather and I will definitely be undertrained for my HIM.

Hey, cool!  We're doing different distances but I don't know of anyone else who's doing this race!
