Run
Comments: Decided to use my garmin for run segments only(not sure how to switch run speed to bike speed quickly yet :) I thought pacing was more important in run than bike for me. Kept pace in check (no hr monitor this time) Ran it hard but left some for later, having blown up too early in races before I'd like to think I have learned my lesson. Transition 1
Comments: Could not find bike. Lame excuse since this wasn't that big a race and racks were well marked. What would you do differently?: Tie a balloon to rack:) Bike
Comments: Not sure on distance except that it wasn't 16.8, somewhere around 20.Chose not to use any type of speedometer this time. First race with new tri bike. Due to flatness was able to stay in aero almost entire time. Pushed this bike hard and started feeling the start of calf cramps at the end. Transition 2
Comments: Was worried how legs would do in run. heading in to t2 thought I mite be in some trouble. Run
Comments: first few minutes ran w/calf cramps but then they went away luckily. I was starting this run breathing hard b/c I hammered the bike. Felt exhausted but was able to get thru it. What would you do differently?: Could have went easier on bike but that would have hurt my overall time too much. Figured I could gut out a short run even if I was tired at the start of it. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to improve on transitions for sure, but this was the first one of the year. Last updated: 2011-05-22 12:00 AM

I live about 20 minutes away so plenty of time to get things ready in the morning. That being said, driving over there I realized I forgot water bottles for bike, scored one off a better prepared fellow athlete.
This being being my first duathlon, wasn't sure how going from run to bike would feel, but thought it important to warm up good so biked and ran some more than I do before a tri.
