While I've found a couple different saddles that work well for me (Profile Tri Stryke on the tri bikes, Bontrager off-road saddle with cutaway wings on the road bike), I've also found that my tolerance for other saddles has increased with my years of riding. So there's a certain amount of "accumulated miles" factor for short-term comfort of many different saddles.

It's interesting to see, in this poll and the other saddle choice poll, the trend toward an expectation for very fast saddle acclimation and a parallel consensus on saddles optimized for saddle discomfort.
