Does anyone have a good website for tracking the water conditions for the river?  Extended forecast says a high of 90 for Sunday.  Ugh!!

Leegoocrap - 2011-08-05 8:49 PM well after my local 70.3 (The Atomic Man) got cancelled, I decided to give Augusta a shot. Cutting it a little close I suppose, but hopefully I'm up for it.

And reppin TN too Leegoocrap!!! This course will suit us well since we are used to training on hills.

I certainly hope so... looking at the course video's I would have classified it as pretty flat haha.

where did you find videos?

Here is the link to the first bike video, there are 9 all together.  Also, from that page you will find run videos too!  It was great to watch them.  To me, both look FLAT!!

Last year it was wetsuit legal. The temps were in the 90's leading up to race day. The morning of the race a cool front came thru and reduced the temps, but it would had no effect on the water temp. I do remember the water being very cool when we first jumped in.

FYI, in a pool I would swim 1.2 miles in 42-45 minutes. My swim time on race day was 30:18. You have to love wet suits and a strong current!!

Have fun and have a good race.

The run is COMPLETELY flat. It can't get any flatter unless they removed the railraod tracks in middle of town that added about a 3 inch hill to the run. It is also very spectator friendly. It is a 2 looper up and down city streets. I think my wife was very easily able to see me 4 times on each loop.

I remember the bike being flat except for 3 or 4 places. There is one decent hill I remember on the 2nd half of the bike, but it wasn't too long nor too steep.

Overall it is a very fun, fast race.

FYI, if you go out for a bike ride Friday or Sat be careful going through downtown.  The tracks are deep and have wide spacers.  You can easily crack a carbon wheel.

Just my 2 cents........the bike is "rolling", nothing difficult, it's scenic and alot of fun.  Run is completely 100% flat and oh yea, the swim will likely be wet-suit legal and ought to be smokin fast.  My swim has gotten alot better, but last year it sucked with a capital S and my time was :34 something.

This race is awesome!!

Hope that "drill sargeant" is working the same corner on the run, that dude ruled.

I am excited about traveling up to Augusta and have trained hard for this race.
The waves have been posted and I am concerned because I am in the THIRD wave (55+ female) after the pros!!! I have no problem with the distance and I am comfortable enough in the water BUT their is no way that I am going to be able to stay ahead of all the big guns that are going to start behind me.
My question is, where is the best swim start position for me so that I can stay out of their way and avoid being trampled on? I know we start from a pier that jetties out into the water. I am assuming the masses will try to catch the fastest current by the bouys. But I read one forum post that hinted that this may not be the case.
HELP!
Also, how is the flow of swimmers going under the bridges?

Most swimmers are in the middle.  Stay close to the outside left near the bouys and you will be fine.  Good luck, smile, and have fun!!
