Since joining this site a little over a month ago, I have worked hard. I've had to figure out what MOP, BOP, HRM, DFL and many many others mean. It has really been taxing my brain. LOL! One has escaped me until today. LSD. I looked around the internet a bit and kept coming up with things like "least significant digit" and "lysergic acid diethylamide". I figured that couldn't be right.

So I finally decided that the "L" and the "S" stood for "Long" and "slow", but what about the "D"? Doodoo? nah dingbat? uh uh death? didn't quite sound right But I think I figured it out. DISTANCE! Right?????? Wow, that one was a long time coming.

Sometimes you have to be careful when youre doing your LSD, not to exceed your MHR which can result in a EKG, which would really suck and youd get a whole lot of DNF's.

It's hard to PR doing only LSD.

Hey, anyone who uses an avatar that's a picture at the top of Mt. Katahdin can't be that dumb. Actually you got it wrong...it really is "lysergic acid diethylamide" cuz none of the rest of us know what that is and now YOU have to bail us out! LOL

Katahdin rocks...I've been on the summit 3 times!

nuggettila - 2005-08-27 2:33 PM what do mop, bop, hrl, lol etc mean

MOP - Middle of pack

BOP - Back of pack

Usually referring to your placing in the group of triathletes in the race.

HR - Heart Rate L?  Not one single solitary clue.

LOL - Laughing out loud.

Hey, max, we went up Helon Taylor and over the Knife Edge to the summit. Oh man, that has to be one of the coolest hikes ever!!!! I was 20 pounds heavier at the time and it was one heck of a hike for me, but what a great experience! Well except for going through the Chimney section. I am clumsy as all get out so rock scrambling is a bit of a challenge for me.

Have you done any hiking in the Presdential Range too? I haven't done much except I have hiked up Mt. Washington three times. I love mountains. Just a little different than the scenery in Ohio. LOL!

Geez Diane, you need to move to New England! Yeah, I've climbed Washington something like 35 times. And have done all 48 of the 4,000 footers at least 5 times each.

Did the Helon Taylor route too a number of years ago, that Knife Edge is really dramatic! One year on October 12th we did it in reverse, but when we got to the Chimney, the descent from the Knife Edge was glare ice so we had to back track across to the summit and then down via Chimney pond. It was pretty late and we were just leaving the summit of Baxter peak at sunset, and we did the rest of the hike out from Chimney Pond in the dark...what an adventure!

Let me know if you get out this way and plan to do more hikes...it's my other obsession besides triathlons!
