Rode the course last weekend and I have to agree with pschriver's assessment, the course is rolling with plenty of flat sections.  That said, you do climb for a mile or so right out of T1 so don't panic, it will flatten out.  For the most part, it's low traffic country roads.  Road conditions are spotty at times but nothing too bad.  Just ride smart and you'll be okay.

I'm in

A race, and from the looks of it DEF Wetsuit legal 62.1 average WHOA, no caffeine needed in the am for this race!!!

Not sure how I feel about the double transition.

Slightly worried about drunkies and out-of-towners leaving early sunday morning after the game.

As for the difficulty, take a look at the videos. Also here's a map my ride link.

http://www.mapmyride.com/s/routes/view/bike-ride-map/south-carolina/anderson/24321766

Yeah it looks hilly, but the graph only has 200 ft of change along the Y axis, which isnt that dramatic.

Update for those still considering, following along, or that didnt get the email:

Here is what you need to know.

T1-Swim to Bike will be located at Darwin Wright Park, about a 10 minute drive away from the Anderson Civic Center Rev3 Expo/Finish Line area. We WILL provide free shuttles on race morning that will be able to pick you, and your supporters, up at the Anderson Civic Center Rev3 Expo/Finish Line Area and drop you off at the Swim start at Darwin Wright.

You will need to check your bike into T1 on Saturday.

After your swim you will be able to put your swim gear in a bag and leave it in your transition spot. These bags will be collected and returned to a designated area outside of T2 for you to pick up after your race. T1 will close at the end of the swim and will not reopen for the remainder of the day.

T2- Bike to Run is located at The Anderson Civic Center. T2 will NOT be open on race morning! You will be provided a bag for your Bike to Run gear, which you will need to check in at T2 on Saturday. You will have your own spot in transition where you will be able to store your gear. Both transitions will be guarded by security Saturday night.

You will be provided with numbered stickers to attach to your bags for identification purposes.

This is great info about T1 and T2. I had no idea there were 2 transitions. Did you receive an email?

The athlete guide is supposed to come out next week.

Let's get excited folks and keep this thread from the bottom of the page!

I was considering dropping from the half to the oly and learned you can make the changes right at the expo before you get your chip. Thats pretty cool. Hopefully the heat and humidity won't be as bad as Augusta was. That was just plain fugly to watch.

Yeah I got an email, but its all posted on their webiste too.

Weather PREDICTION based on previous years looks good, but who knows. I expect the water to be cold and the earlier you start the cooler it'll be. Wednesday gets us our first 10 day outlook.

Im like phatnot, I don't want Augusta.

I skipped Augusta this year for 3 reasons-Heat Humidity and Hills (there arent any on the run). I need a "break" uphill or downhill. Pleaseeeeeeeee no rain either.

Nipper - 2011-10-03 2:13 PM Anyone seen a recent water temp?

My 7 yo daughter was at the lake this week-end and went swimming. The adult who was with her said the water temp was 85. I have trouble believing that number but I know the water can stay warm well into the fall.

Somebody just posted 73 degrees on the SC forum. That sounds a little low. I think it will be barely wetsuit legal. I also think the RDs/ USAT refs are usually pretty good about finding the coldest place in the lake to measure the temps.
