Subject: RE: Galveston 5150.....Oct 23 2011 mmcduff12 - 2011-10-24 12:54 PM congrats keri! thats awesome! i'm not 100% positive about the ambulance, but it could have been (1) for a rider i saw that had fallen in the first few miles along the sea wall road (not sure the name). another rider had already stopped for her and was trying to flag down someone with a phone or (2) my dad said he saw a few people pulled out of the water on the swim. did anyone do the sprint and noticed the swim distance seem off? the race was advertised as a 400m swim, but it seemed way farther. when looking at the results, even the top finishers swam the "400m" in 8:XX and 9:XX. it was a fun race, but i'm with newclydesdale, i've been spoiled by onurmark races. i will be back next year though! i did the sprint and the swim seemed about right for 500m. i don't remember seeing it listed at 400m, but then again, i don't think i ever looked. my watched said it was .59miles so that would be over 500meters. maybe that's just me zig zagging all the way down that straight away, or my watch was way off. good race overall i thought. i managed a 4th place in M30-34. i saw lots of sprint people miss the finish chute on the run, my buddy being one of them. i will say it was a little overstimulating at the fork with the volunteers all pointing towards the second loop and the crowd pretty thick there. Aaron would have had a huge sign with arrows so i'll still say OUM puts on a better race. congrats to everyone that did the race! |
