Subject: Open Water Swimming in the Salem area?

I have family that live between Salem and Portland and I'm wondering if there's any places to practice open water swimming in the Salem area when I'm visiting them?

Thanks!  I had thought of that reservoir, I used to work in Silverton about 13 years ago so I am familiar with where it's at but haven't actually been there.

Willamette Valley Tri Club out of Salem swims at the Silverton Res. often.  There is a nominal parking fee of $2.00 put in place this year.  We were out there two weeks ago and it must have been high 40's to low 50's in temp.  I think it might have warmed up some since as some of the members went out last week and were able to swim.  The day we were there we were limited to swimming out about 100 to 150 yds from shore and then back.  Did this about 10 -15 times.  Could barely keep your face in the water.

I was wondering how cold it might be, water is still very chilly here in Central Oregon!  I was hoping to get in a swim and bike there this last Saturday but no luck with it raining pretty much all day.  We'll be heading to IMCdA to volunteer and cheer on some friends so we'll have to get in a chilly swim there this weekend.
