I have a HIM in August and if I survive and feel good about it I will be doing IMSG 2012. If not I will wait until 2013

I'm in, my training buddies think I'm nuts.  Nine of us are doing IMFL in Nov then I need to convince them to keep riding with me through the winter!

I am getting ready to pull the trigger for IMSG, I'm in for IMFL this year followed by IM Cozumel about three weeks later (poor planning on my part).

I'm in the thinking stages... Been a long year and a half of injuries and illness.  So I'm waiting to see what my next MRI and other med test come back before I sign up for any IM.

Well I pulled the trigger.... I've completed 7 of these to date and will have added another 2 (if all goes as planned) by the time I toe the line in St George. I am going on record in that "I am very scared" of this particular race, it looks tough.

I'm just starting a recovery from major illness, so I'm uncertain about IMSG 2012 right now.  I'd like to get going on training & wait to see how I'm doing.  How long can I wait before this thing sells out?

Big congratulations on IMCDA, I've been dragging my feet on this for years on this and was convinced 2012 was the year.... However I got a slot in IMNYC and decided to wait a year (2013 IMCDA). So IMSTG gives me enough separation and threw my hat into the ring.....Now I'm worried.....this will be a challenge.....but then again a scary challenge is why we do IM.

Ok.  Since some of you are IMSG vets, lets talk wheel choice for this course..  What's ideal and can a disc help?

I used my 404/808 setup because I thought it was going to be super windy, but in retrospect I wish I had used my 808/disc combo instead.  It sucked to have others pulling away on descents when I normally am the one pulling away.

I was told by somebody with pretty good connections to St. George that this race course will be changed to be a little easier next year. He specifically mentioned the run course, and then we ran out of time so I didn't get any further details (sorry).

Anybody else hear rumblings of course changes for 2012?

So the rumor is that CDA is changing it's bike course also. What's up with all the easier courses?

I just did CDA and want to do St. George.  The only reason i'm stalling is the rumors of the new "easier" run course.  I want to do the original run course. I watched my friend do it this last year and that run is no joke.

I'll probably end up signing up anyway, this is just my little way to protest/rebel

All these sweet courses are "going away".  Silverman goes big time and its off limits ( i only did the half and really wanted to do the full.  AWESOM RACE EVENT!) CDA is changing the bike and now st george is rumor to change run to less hills? frustrating ( although cda is because of logistics with hayden)

It would be a shame if WTC changed anything about the Ironman St. George course.  It's excruciatingly difficult but thats the lure of this race.  Unfortunately, its also a business and the race hasn't sold out in either year of its existence so I have a feeling we will see it modified to convince more people its do-able.

Nasty...Kinda like the honey badger?? HA! sorry couldn't help it.  I mean how " easy" can they make it.  When I was there all I saw were hills, coupled with the extreme weather. Anybody notice the wind the day after this years race. WOW!! But yeah, it is a business

The run course will definitely be changed. They are just trying to figure out where best to put it and keep T2 and finish in the same spot. I also hate to see them change it but it needs to be done if this race is to survive beyond the 5 year contract. Numbers would keep going down. First year dnf's were 15%. This year was 18%. The run course was wreckage from one end to the other.
