Yes. I've done both, but prefer the back seat. Remove the front wheel and it's easy to put in the back seat upside down. Doesn't hurt the bike at all. Just keep the seat clean since you're renting.

Remove the wheel, put the bike in the backseat (on the floorboard) and go. No problems. I would suggest putting a towel down on the floorboard under the chain. If the chain presses on the floorboard there's a good chance of grease transfer and you don't want to be charged for it.

Last summer I transported my bike all around KY in the backseat of a Nissan Altima (rental). Worked just fine.

Now I'm contemplating the same for a trip to Missouri...

I've taken to sticking mine in the back seat of my car even though I have a bike rack. That way I can stop for lunch and/or bathroom breaks and not have to be concerned about it going away as I'm in the store even if it's got a cable lock on it.

Yup, my P2C fits easily in the back seat of my wife's Mazda 6. Take the front wheel off, move the front seats forward a bit and put the bike on the floor.

Same here...  Another plus is I can do 75-80 on the highway without worry.  A bike rack usually suggests not going after 60.

I typically take off both wheels and put them in the trunk and put the bike in the rear seat upside down.  I have a towel that I basically wrap the drive train to keep the grease from getting on the leather seats.  I have a few grease marks on the door frame from the many time I have taken it in and out, but in general, pretty clean.
