Who's done this or is participating this year ? I started a thread last year but ended up not making the ride due to work. I'm curious as to how much traffic there is on the route. Also, they've added a 5k run. That could be a heckuva brick if you did the 100 mile ride after the 5k. Looks like fun. http://coolbreezecyclery.com/articles/2011-lake-norman-excursion-of...

I love the idea of an exclusionary bike ride.  Roadies!

It's on my "maybe" list.   Looks like a great turnout from the pics.

We would like to do the Raptor ride in Yadkinville the weekend before but not sure I want to drive that far that early in the morning (plus getting grandma to the house by 6am to babysit may be a challenge).   But the wine tasting, burgers and band are really calling our names...

I have done it the past two years.  Typically, it's a long, hot ride.  There are a couple of killer hills in Lake Norman State Park and a few other decent climbs scattered throughout the course.  I don't remember traffic issues being a big concern.  It is very well attended and you can almost always find a group to ride with unless you are on your tri bike.  Then, you know, you gotta' be mindful that some roadies may not like you sucking their wheel.  A few of the local bike shops like to push each other at the front of the group.  The support is very good.  The food and party afterwards is pretty good too.

I am planning on doing it again to see if I can beat my avg speed from last year where I averaged 19mph until the last 5 miles through Mooresville and cramped up so badly I had to roll to a stop next to a telephone pole so I could stretch my calves, then my quads, then my hamstrings...

tri42,

19mph isn't that impressive if you take into account that I was in a pace line most of the time.  You meet lots of people on this ride.

Great event yesterday. Mid 70's in July with no rain... Whooda thunk it. Probably one of my faster century rides and still finished near the back.
