Subject: T-Shirt Graphics on Trisuit

I have been wanting to get my name put on my tri suit, like MACCA down the leg.

I contacted a few local tri shops in the Kansas City area, and did not have a good option. Would it be a good idea to take it to a TEE SHIRT company to get custom graphics "pressed" on???

Trisuit is 2XU comp.

You can get paper that goes in your computer printer that can be ironed onto fabric. My girlfriend made a roller derby costume for Halloween this way.   Not sure the costs, but probably cheaper if you are only getting on item printed.  The set up fees are usually where the cost comes from.

Hello KC,

When printing on technical/race apparel it is usually best to find someone that does sublimation printing.  Iron-on's don't really work well on polyester as the iron can melt the fabric and the application does not wear well.  Traditional screen print and "Direct to garment" printing can be done on performance fabrics but it is a little trickier and it would be hard to find someone willing to do a one-off print on a garment someone already owns  as they would make zero money on it.  I had not heard of Marma Daddy's recommended company before but they might be a good fit for you.  Otherwise look for a "sublimation printer" which is specifically designed to print on polyester/performance fabric and lasts forever since it actually bonds and becomes part of the fabric.  Good Luck!

Another thing to think about is the suit is designed to allow airflow...if you don't have it sublimated you are blocking all the airholes that allow the air to come in...there are quite a few companies that will do low runs but I'm not sure that they will use your garment...

I used WinSkins about 2 years ago on my tri top. They do a great job but they are pricey. I put my company logo on the front and back of my top, so my company paid for it as advertising. I've raced about 12 races in the shirt and there are no signs of wear n' tear.

In my opinion it's not worth the price if you were just putting your name on it, but then again I'm not you.
