Boo!  It's $500 more than I thought it'd be.

I thought the original concept was to have internal electronics? This seems not so 1. aero and 2. astatically pleasing.

I thought so too, but looks like they couldn't quite get everything to fit.  Bigger concerns are how it sticks out.  Will it be able to take a hit?  And also the price point.  $1,000 to $1,500 is a pretty big jump, especially for much of the crowd that would have been looking at this.  $1500 is approaching Quarq prices.  And I don't have the above concern with it or with pedals wearing out or with what happens when you go down (not as much as with pedals at least).

Wondering if the pedal axle is "more" flexible than a standard pedal in order to allow the strain guages to operate over a wider range?

The sticky out part would look to be for batteries?

Love the concept - portability is worth something but $1500 is very spendy

It only sticks out when the crank arm is at 90 degrees, so no need to worry about accidentally clipping the sensor while making a sharp turn.  Still at $1500, this is definitely not something for the casual triathlete/cyclist and I can't see it being as common as HR monitors are for runners, as Garmin puts it.  Just the mere fact that they're touting ease of swapping the system to other bikes indicates the athlete must have more than one bike, which is more for the hardcore crowd or for someone with deep pockets.  For me, I ride a road bike for local triathlons so I could care less about the ease of swapping the unit onto a different bike.  Looks like I'll just wait for a cheap Powertap or hold out for Brim Brothers to release the specs of their power meter.
