Just to toot my own horn - I raced my very first triathlon today. It was a super sprint (400m swim - 9mi bike - 1.9mi run) and I did it in 1:10:50

OK the swim was a bit scary until the pack thinned out. Not used to people pulling on my feet and calves or literally swimming on top of me. But I did it in 10:30 at my easy pace.

T1 was hard (3:20) - I was light headed from the swim though I had kept an easy pace. So I "lost" a bit of time recovering there.

Bike was great and I even passed some people on my MTB!! I would have done better than 38:59 on a tri bike, but I'm happy with how great I felt on the bike - the event that scared me the most.

T2 was easy as all I did was take off helmet, rack bike and go.

Run was HARD. But I managed to keep the pace I'd planned and even 'sprint' at the end.

I pretty sure that when I've recovered I'm going to want to do this again Smile.

Oh, and if there were an Athena category in France, I would have definitely been on the podium. All the other women - except maybe one or two (which tells you why I would have been on the podium) - were well under 150lbs but that's the tiny Frenchwomen for you!!

As I live in a small town in the middle of France, there isn't much choice in terms of triathlons. There are about 5 or 6 between May and September but only 2 or 3 offer the Super Sprint or Sprint events that I feel ready to do. The season's over for the year, but I already know which ones I'll be doing next year Smile
